The media might be overplaying the significance of the tea party movement, CNN anchor Campbell Brown suggested late Tuesday during a political discussion at the Milken Institute Global Conference.
Paraphrasing a story from the news Web site, Politico, Brown said: The media didnt see the tea party coming, and now are sort of over-compensating by giving these guys way more attention than they deserve.
SNIP
It was Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, a Republican, who offered up a defense, gently chastising rich attendees of a Beverly Hills conference for their unflattering characterization of tea party demonstrators as unwashed simpletons.
Stereotypes are dangerous in general, he said. For the most part, these are just hard working average people. They dont have lots of money. They shop at Sams Club. Theyre plumbers, and electricians, and grandmas.
Its not good for everyone else to belittle them, he said.
You cant deny at many of these rallies there have been racist attacks on the president, Campbell interjected.
You can go to any political rally and find a couple of goofballs, Pawlenty said. But if the standard for tea-partiers is that they must always be coherent, or risk the wrath of the media, then apply those same standards to Congress, he said to applause.

Campbell Brown DESERVES her very meager ratings.
That's the money line right there

In the words of dear leader: YES WE CAN!
She is just following her orders from Obama.
We have to get use to the Marxist media’s denigration of the Tea Party movement, and everything else that is American.
As long as their doltish little neo-Marxist audience continue to dry up, they will marginalize themselves out of business, or be nothing more then wards of the state, as the old Radio Albania.
True Americans should be thankful that fewer and fewer people are tuning in to the red diaper doper babies at the Communist News Network, and PMSNBC.
I have attended a few Tea Parties and certainly have heard attacks on the President, on nncy Pelosi and on that old bag of dirt from Nevada Harry Reid, but never heard a racial attack on him.
We dont have to get racial to launch a verbal attack on Obama , he is plenty guilty enough for our wrath without that.
The smug arrogance of the lefties is continually amazing. Imagine getting up every morning having to deceive YOURSELF, to prepare your lies, to strap on that smug belief you are superior to all others. Pathetic!
Flack is heaviest when you're over the target.
BTW, expect this kind of treatment from the state-run media. After seeing them fawn over Obama during the election season, can there be any doubt that they are a bunch of leftist shills? Time and again, they demonstrate a loyalty to the marxists on the left while ignoring the truth. Their treatment of the Tea Party movement compared to their treatment of the pro-illegal immigrant riots in Arizona are just another demonstration of this extreme and obvious bias.
I was listening to Anthony Sanders from Mercatus Center and George Mason talking on NPR/Wisconsin Public Broadcasting yesterday. He talked about how bad the Dodd bill was and blamed excessive spending by Greece, Portugal and .. the US for the looming international debt crisis.
The callers were “goofballs” and said the stupidest things. “The guest is just repeating Republican talking points!”
Chuckle from Sanders. “The near $110 trillion of unfunded liabilities comes from the Congressional Budget Office. Even President Obama is complaining about the deficits and excessive debt. So, its an economic issue.”
On and on. NPR listeners want to save their cradle to grave entitlements and even put corporations on welfare to save jobs. At what cost?
Elsewhere, Sanders (or Saunders?) has stated the following:
“As of 2009, under our progressive tax structure, households earning $250,000 or more accounted for approximately 2% of all households. If we multiply the number of households (115,000,000 million) by 2%,we find that 2,300,000 households will bear the brunt of the $108 trillion of underfunded liabilities. That amounts $47 million per household to pay for these unfunded liabilities.”
A $250,000 household has to pay $47 million for illegal immigrants, union pensions, TBTF banks bailout, healthcare, etc? This points out the stupidity of progressive taxation and the handing out of healthcare, pensions and corporate bailouts like candy.”
The “big lie” works.
If you want to understand the current state of racism in America, ask yourself this question. Who is more likely to be attacked on the basis of race, a minority walking in a white neighborhood or a white walking in a minority neighborhood? That’s not painting with a broad brush. It’s just being realistic.
It's never been about the color of Obama's skin. It's the color of his diseased marxist muslim brain.
Last time I looked Obamanation sat for 20 years in a Black Liberation Theology Church, AG Holder was attending a celebration for a Black Nationalist group, the Obama administration was running interference for the Black Panthers and a multitude of other racial crap.
The only ‘racism’ I see is directed at whites, you know the NAZIS, like Tim Tebow for example. Last time I looked the only race groups were strictly non-white and anti-white....
So please GFY!
Campbell Brown has the ability to be a secretary in the DNC, but not much else. I’ve seen the woman speak and nothing intelligent comes out.
Translation: "We tried to ignore these people, but that just helped them enlarge their numbers, and now calling them names seems to be doing the same thing...sheesh"
Perhaps the answer to accusations of racism by folks like Campbell Brown should be “Show Me The Racism!” Insist that the insinuators precisely explain their accusations. It would leave her and others like her speechless because you can’t explain what isn’t there. Disagreeing with ideology is not racism.
Her commentary has no redeeming value. The only value she has is as a "honeypot" to draw and confirm the bigoted prejudices of like-minded scum.
