SEND IN THE DRONES: PREDATORS TO FLY ABOVE TEX-MEX BORDER Tue Apr 27 2010 19:39:41 ET

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano told a Senate hearing Tuesday that unmanned aerial drones will soon fly through Texas skies!

"Big Sis" declared that over the past 15 months, federal law enforcement initiatives have made the border more secure than in any other time in history, the SAN ANTONIO EXPRESS-NEWS reports in Wednesday editions.

The new "predator bees" have the capability to fly at altitudes used by commercial aircraft, and are designed to enhance intelligence capabilities of federal, state and local law enforcement.

But a recent analysis of the use of unmanned aerial vehicles found that they were twice as likely to crash as manned aircraft, according to the Congressional Research Service.

Yes, there are a few Germans, Aussies, etc in the mix. Give us a call when they form murderous gangs such as MS-13, and generally account for about a third of the volilent felons in some state prison systems. Most people are not anti-hispanic,,,they are anti-3rd world. If a foreigner comes here, with an attitude of assimilation and respect, most people are ok with that.

But when peopl;e come illegally, from 3rd world nations, and show little respect for our national traditions, and try to recreate the home country here, most Americans will never really like it. Somalis do this, Mexicans and Salvadorans do it, and some asians. Thats just a fact. People from india for example age widely welcomed by all Americans except for a very few bigots. On the other hand, Pakistanis face more resentment.

If you look closely, you’ll see American attitudes towards immigrants is behavior based. The only racism here is hispanic Americans who often emotionally belive that every hispanic on earth somehow has a natural right to move to the USA. MOST of the current flood is the first member of their family tree to ever set foot here.

It’s a fiction that all hispanics, somehow are the rightful heirs to the American southwest. Some hispanics were, but the current flood from there is generally not. And as for racism, evr notice how the pro-immigration types generally never find time to say white europeans need more opportunities to move here? Wonder why that is? Racism?

I was going to say...ah...doesn’t THIS scream “police state?”

Non-discriminatory, police questioning and interaction with suspected felon, doesn’t violate the rights of those whom are not involved at all. Guess they don’t see the drones that provide surveillance as violating the rights of the people they “accidently” spy on. Unintended consequences.

Yeah, who wants to bother with an uncool, common-sense, lower-cost, low-tech, EFFECTIVE solution like a FENCE? ;-)

Is it still lower cost and common sense when you have to pay teams of people with construction and welding equipment to patrol the 1,969 miles of fence every single day, looking for and fixing holes that have been cut in it?

Patrolling the border should be made part of the militaries training. One of these days those coming across the border will be armed.

What in the hell was I thinking! They are doing it now.

Thanks.

The air-to-air mishap rate for UAV’s is 5 x 10 to the minus 4, whereas, the manned aircraft mishap rate is 5 x 10 to the minus 5. UAV’s are very safe. Post 88 has a few documents that reflect the data. Those documents are by no means comprehensive, just quickly gleaned.

It is simple as you noted.

It is illegal to be an illegal in this country.

Those, who support illegals are commiting illegal acts.

Not the pathetic excuse for a barrier that we currently have. Double fence solutions have been proposed that, if properly constructed, would drastically reduce border crossings. I take it you concur with Incompetano’s position that “show me a 20 ft. wall and I’ll show you a 21 ft. ladder”? If nothing else, it’ll keep out those who don’t have a 21 ft. ladder (and many more if done right). The cost of doing nothing is totally unacceptable.

“I am disgusted by the anti-Hispanic stuff here.”

My best friend’s wife is a LEGAL Hispanic (with dual citizenship), and both of them are strongly opposed to illegal immigrants from Mexico or anywhere else. They’re hardly “anti-Hispanic”. Why is the “ILLEGAL” part so hard for some folks to grasp?

The alternative to building a 21-foot wall is not "doing nothing."

PSDS2 RAID Sensors

At AUSA 08 Raytheon displayed a typical payload control display employing such sensors. The display supports multiple video feeds displayed as 'thumbnails'. The operator monitors the area under surveillance on a 3D situational map display, employing the Terrasight interactive 3D map, and video integration tool developed by Sarnoff, presenting the video in a dynamic, 'footprint' over the 3D map. The information displayed by the system provides realistic assessment of the locations, dead zones and visibility of potential targets, as they travel behind land curves, buildings etc.

A staffer sitting in an air conditioned room anywhere in the United States or around the world can use this system to detect infiltrators, and then deploy interdiction directly to the GPS coordinates of the infiltrators, rather than having a crew of agents wandering up and down two thousand miles of fence 24x7 looking for holes and infiltrators.

Yes, we need effective barriers to dissuade illegal entry, but even the most effective barrier can be overcome with sufficient time and tools. Just throwing up a fence isn't enough, no matter how high - it needs to be monitored as well, and it may actually be lower cost to do more effective monitoring on a less effective barrier, instead of less effective monitoring on a more effective barrier.

Build a wall! Hell, build Minefields!

If you were Mexican, don't you think that you'd be one of the people trying to get away from the corrupt socialist narco-mafia running that country and into the freedom and prosperity of the US by any means possible?

Minefields?? Give me an effing break, that's just sick. We're not East Germany. Trying to attain a better life than you could ever attain while laboring under the boots of elite politicians and their drug-lord paymasters, by crossing into the US, is not a capital crime. It's a crime, sure, but sure as hell not a capital crime.

You're so wrong in so many ways.

I view your little straw man argument along the lines of “What if you killed somebody? Would you want to be facing Ol’ Sparky?”

These people are bringing the same conditions here that make their own nations hell-holes. Also, because we're stupid enough to have a welfare state, they're exploiting it, even gaming it, to the detriment of our citizens, our government, and our economy. Because they were lawless in the first place, they're a threat to our social order. Finally, they're bringing diseases that have been unknown in the USA for generations - epidemics anyone? So, IMHO, the damage they are doing, knowingly or otherwise, IS (or should be) potentially a capital crime.

Then there is the moral issue. A lot of illegal aliens are exploited almost like slaves. I dislike the idea of second class (non-)citizenry almost as much as I dislike illegal aliens.

I can't say all or even most of illegal aliens are “bad.” In most cases the harm they do is probably unintentional. I am of the opinion that once the border is secure (by any means necessary!), a large portion can remain, provided they are (otherwise) law-abiding, of good character, own property, renounce loyalty to the country of their origin, and are prepared to culturally assimilate into our country. Good citizens should always be welcome.

And maybe we do need a guest worker plan.

But it doesn't matter what I'd do under their circumstances. If I were invading another country, that country would be entirely within its rights to stop me, with lethal force, if necessary, regardless of my reasons for invading.

So go peddle it elsewhere. I'm not buyin’.

Brilliant!

When the first nuke suitcase comes through Mexico into the US and detonates in a US city...

THE BORDER WILL BE PROTECTED IN 48 HOURS OR LESS WITH WHATEVER IT TAKES! ITS THAT SIMPLE!
MILITARY, SHOOT TO KILL, ELECTRIFIED FENCES....

We are not in a state of cease-fire armistice with Mexico, as South Korea is with North Korea. If Congress wishes to declare war on Mexico, then sure, lay a minefield, but not before.

No we’re in a state of undeclared war, sort of like Israel vs. Hamas, Hezbollah, and the PLO (aka PA). Same difference.
