Maldonado gets the OK as lieutenant governor
The Senate voted 25-7 this afternoon to confirm Sen. Abel Maldonado's lieutenant governor nomination, clearing the way for the embattled pick to finally fill the vacant post.

UPDATE 2:43 p.m.: The governor's office says Maldonado will be sworn in tomorrow in Sacramento.
