COSTA MESA About 30 people protested outside a fundraiser for Orange County Sheriff candidate Bill Hunt on Saturday morning.
About 10 people with signs stood outside the entrance to the Triangle Square parking garage off Newport Boulevard in Costa Mesa. About 20 more people crowded around the entrance to Sutra Restaurant and Nightclub as Hunt supporters checked in for the event.
Protestors hold signs at the entrance to the parking garage at Triangle Square in Costa Mesa. People were protesting O.C. Sheriff candidate Bill Hunt, who is being endorsed by Arizona's Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio. ELYSSE JAMES, THE ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER
The protest occurred because Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, Ariz., is in town supporting Hunt's campaign. Others joined, they said, because of the Arizona law enacted yesterday ordering police to screen for illegal immigrants.
"The bill that passed in Arizona is frightening because it is racial profiling and will affect Latinos more than any other minority," said Yenny Talmo, of Santa Ana. "I believe we're all equal. I hope Hunt will not be sheriff."

I believe the famous quote is, "All men were created equal," Yenny. Get a clue.
NM, about my statement of the irony of them being in Arizona. Don’t know how I missed it that they were in California! [As I said in my post above — must be time for bed! LOL]
She’s an attractive woman. :)
Here we go again.. With the race card... “we are all racist” Blah Blah. Its getting tired and old.
Please tell me more? Do you want him as Sheriff?
Well, all I can say is if they get too rambunctious, they might be surprised by the pro-law group that comes out to protest them. Sometimes I think that we have become a lawless society - only enforce those laws that are agreed to by over 50% of society...geez.
We already know that those that have money or influence are lawless - just what we need is another large group disregarding the laws... We are fast losing our faith in law and order...(from Louisiana to immanent domain laws). The Supreme Court seems to be going along with this also which is just helping destroy the belief in law and order.
every time somebody uses “you’re a racist” on me I just say, “No..You’re a racist.” Deer in the headlights. It works everytime! try it.
Those who control law enforcement contol law.
No matter what is written or ordered, the enforcement is key to a society. These protestors do not believe in the law, or its enforcement.
When we have lawlessness waged by those who have no property to seize, government cannot profit by the enforcement of law. This Government needs money, especially with its new leadership’s war on so many sectors of business. The democrats will do everything to quash this new law.
Yes she is, and very, very nice.
Yes. Very much so. I am working on his campaign.
