As long as we're quoting fictional characters...

"The Army is a broad sword, not a scalpel. Trust me, senator - you do not want the Army in an American city. Make no mistake, Senator. We will hunt down the enemy, we will find the enemy, and we will kill the enemy. And no card-carrying member of the ACLU is more dead set against it than I am. Which is why I urge you - I implore you. Do not consider this as an option."

This article was in the Chicago Sun-Times yesterday. But *oddly* something is *missing* from this version. In yesterday's article the term 'Marshal' Law was used. Yep, not 'Martial' Law, but 'Marshal' Law.
(my guess is that ace reporterette Kristen Mack put that in)

In any case don't these mopes know that the Military (i.e. IL National Guard) cannot be used for Police, Law Enforcement' purposes, its that 'Posse Comitatus Act' thingy. First Daley would have to declare 'Martial Law' and that'll happen when hell freezes over, or he goes on a shopping spree at 'Handguns 'R' Us'. /s

I live in Pittsburgh. We had the G20 last year. The downtown area and nearby neighborhoods looked like armed camps. It was horrible. The (whoever they were) thugs acted like jack-booted thugs. I drove past and over downtown on way home and could see the empty streets and the fences which they put up. It was chilling and evil.

No! Screw you corrupt, gun-grabbing b*stards! The sick policies of YOUR people in Chicago caused this to take shape. You're on your own.

Here is positive proof gun control laws don't work. Chicago is one of the most oppressive cities in the country as far as gun laws go and yet their crime rate is very high. They don't need to the national guard, they need armed citizens. Instead of admitting their frickin' mistakes liberals continue to call for more and more repression in order to fix their screw ups.

The only cure is to get the liberals(communist, progressives whatever)out of our government.

The National Guard isn’t militia.

>The National Guard isn’t militia.

It actually depends on the State’s own constitution.
My state’s constitution, Art 18, Sec 1:
[Composition, name and commander in chief of militia.]
The militia of this state shall consist of all able-bodied male citizens between the ages of eighteen and forty-five, except such as are exempt by laws of the United States or of this state. The organized militia shall be called the “national guard of New Mexico,” of which the governor shall be the commander in chief.

As you can see, the New Mexico national guard certainly IS the militia; as is every able-bodied male between 18 and 45.

>In any case don’t these mopes know that the Military (i.e. IL National Guard) cannot be used for Police, Law Enforcement’ purposes, its that ‘Posse Comitatus Act’ thingy.

That’s incorrect. The Posse Comitatus Act is nothing more than a feel-good law; Congress can STILL use the militia for police-work via the Constitution which says:
“To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions;”

Note the ‘execute the Laws’ portion thereof. Now you might argue that the militia and National Guard are not the same thing, and that might be true... it depends on how that particular state defined their militia. In my state it defines the militia as every able bodied male between 18 and 45; it also defines the organized militia as the New Mexico National Guard. {Implying that there are two classes of militia.}

>First Daley would have to declare ‘Martial Law’ and that’ll happen when hell freezes over, or he goes on a shopping spree at ‘Handguns ‘R’ Us’. /s

Actually, he might not have to do that... he might be able to cite ‘invasion;’ especially if there is an infestation of illegal immigrants in the city. {But that’s probably just my wishful thinking; I’d LIKE to see the “sanctuary cities” besieged militarily and the leaders such as mayor, city council, sheriff, chief of police and such captured and tried for treason.}

Sounds to me like Chicago is having personal problems...

The NG needs to tell them to go pound sand and read up on the Constitution...

Oops...I forgot, most people in Chicago don’t know what the Constitution is...

113 people killed in that city this year...Thats about 1 a night...

Pathetic population if you ask me...Obviously they need to get their act together, but then again they are probably not allowed to by the anointed ones running that show...
