CHART OF THE DAY: How America Will Beat Back China With Its Killer Labor Force
Business Insider ^ | Mar. 31, 2010 | Vincent Fernando

Posted on 04/25/2010 6:32:05 PM PDT by rob777

There's an enormous yet simple reason why America will remain an extremely powerful nation out to 2050. It's demographics.

Thanks to a relatively high fertility rate, plus a rich culture of immigration, America is set to grow its population by another 100 million people through 2050. This is based on U.S. census projections and is supported by other projections as well via New Geography.

Over the next four decades, America will grow its labor force, ie. its productive population, by a whopping 42%, as shown below.

Meanwhile, China's labor force will shrink by 10%, Europe's will shrink 25%, and that of Korea and Japan's will shrink by horrendous amounts.

See, China's labor force has been growing very fast lately, which has helped it stun the world, but this growth is set to peak and then start falling by the middle of this decade. So be prepared for the hype to die down by about 2020, even though China will of course keep developing.

In contrast, from about 2015 onwards, the U.S. will start showing how its national model isn't so bad after all.

Perhaps the reports of America's decline are a bit premature.

At some point we will need to consider repopulating Europe.

BTW, if the experience of the Middle Easterners in Sweden is a sign of what is to come, they appear to have a great deal of difficulty reproducing their numbers in the more Northern latitudes.

Could be the only ME types able to live in Northern and Western Europe for any length of time are "THE TURKS" ~ whose origins are roughly the same as those of most Europeans.

Sounds nice, however, the demographics I see are don’t include enough ‘producers’. The ‘Looters’ and ‘Moochers’ outnumber us and are breeding the fastest.

They are having trouble reproducing in Iran as well, which has its own demographic problems.

Perhaps, but this doesn’t factor in the ninkompoops currently going through our education system and entering the workforce wondering why they only get 2 weeks vacation.

This is about the biggest crock of crap I remember seeing linked on FR.

How does increasing our population in any way equal improving our economy? That’s like telling a poor couple to just go have more kids and they’ll become rich.

Think about this paragraph:

“China will have to increase worker productivity faster than the fall in its labor force each year just to tread water when it comes to GDP. Meanwhile the U.S. could have zero productivity gains over 40 years and yet achieve a 42% larger economy by 2050. Thanks to healthy demographics.”

Note the phrase “Larger economy”. Help me understand how adding more mouths to feed without any improvement in productivity creates a “larger economy”.

Pure BS.

Exactly. The lazy, non-English speaking “demographics’ who dont pay taxes (it’s already proven that 47% dont) will turn us into AmeriKa. By 2050, I expect 2 Civil wars within this 40 year time frame.

Please expain why the slowdown in growth rate of a billion Chinese is supposed to make America more competative/productive?

Especially if we’re socialist and completely unproductive!

The labor force will grow by 42% but what are they to labor on? Jobs, jobs, jobs. We need jobs. The three letter word. Jobs

If 'rats have their way, that could be by the end of this year. And I include gramnesty as someone who wants to vote with the rats (present statements notwithstanding).

Interesting ~ which could explain why the Iranians are all the time (in history) seeking to move South.

More recently there was an intriguing article that reported that virtually every person in India/Pakistan had mtDNA and other marker genes from a Persian or Dravidian ancestor.

That was EVERY person, and it made me wonder what happened to the Yakuts who ruled India from Nepal before they returned to Siberia around AD 200.

Is there some latitudinal preference for the various different kinds of human beings?

The problem is that a large proportion of the US increase in population will be illegal immigrants, with their views guided and shaped by the liberal/socialist Democratic party, the Old news media and academia.

Unless these new immigrants work to become assimilated Americans as did previous waves of immigrants, the US will loose its competitive advantage.

On top of this we have Obama & Co working to change the USA into another socialist/marxist/(islamic?) cesspool.

A slowdown in the growth rate for any society causes the average age of the society to increase so that you have less young people at producing age supporting the older population who are seeking some form of retirement. There are usually greater expenses and less productivity associated with an aging society.

A couple of things wrong with this prediction.

1) A huge labor force needs jobs, and they don't come into existence just because prospective workers exist. Someone has to risk capital building the places of employment, and must expect to be able to sell the product of that employment to recoup the investment plus a worthwhile profit. Within the US, the investor can expect the worlds highest: labor costs, energy costs, construction costs, permit costs, regulation and costs, shakedown costs, and level of demonization, plus the second highest corporate tax rate.

2) China, India, and dozens of other countries have the lowest: (repeat previous list here), and more willing workers right now.

3) Now where will the jobs go?

“a rich culture of immigration”

It’s all just a part of this rich tapestry that we call life.

Generational gap? Seems the idea of ‘enterprise’ has been lost somewhere along the way.
‘Find a need and Fill it’ Since 1980 the only job growth has come from NEW businesses
