Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon says seniors, kids and out-of-staters should be wary of the Arizona immigration bill signed into law this past week -- warning that it puts them at risk of being arrested.

The law makes illegal immigration a state crime. It gives police the authority to question people about their immigration status and arrest those who cannot show documentation to establish their legal residency.

If you can’t speak English, and don’t have a driver’s license or other credible form of ID suggesting you are legal, you may be detained until you can demonstrate you are legal.

I just wish all of you would stop and look at the bulk of the arguments being made in support of this unconstitutional law.

Its the same logic liberals use to argue their never-ending parade of unconstitutional crap.

WHich I might remind all of you, usually throws the masses here into a full-blown, foaming at the mouth fit!

Yet you happily embrace the same logic when it suits your “causes”.

Barbarians at the Gates!

A Parable for Our Times

Civilizations rise, and civilizations fall.

They rise when all of the varied forces, actions, and influences which move a culture toward a more civilized state are more powerful than those forces, actions, and influences move a culture away from that more civilized state. When that balance changes to favor the “anti-civilization” forces, that civilization will begin to fall.

When a civilization falls, (from all of the various factors which damaged and weakened it) the end of that civilization is typically characterized by an invasion by a nearby non-civilized, but more robust culture. Over the centuries, this common end has been metaphorically referred to as “The Barbarians at the Gate.” This is more than a mere metaphor, however. There is a specific historical incident which may very well be the original “Barbarians at the Gate” incident.

Prologue:

...And the barbarians, finding that they had no hostile force to encounter them, became the most cruel of all men. For they destroyed all the cities which they captured, especially those south of the Ionian Gulf, so completely that nothing has been left to my time to know them by, unless, indeed, it might be one tower or one gate or some such thing which chanced to remain. And they killed all the people, as many as came in their way, both old and young alike, sparing neither women nor children. Wherefore, even up to the present time Italy is sparsely populated. They also gathered as plunder all the money out of all Europe, and, most important of all, they left in Rome nothing whatever of public or private wealth when they moved on to Gaul.

This Barbarian “character flaw,” the serial atrocity of brutal mass murders of the innocent , the harmless, and especially to defenseless, lives today in the twisted souls of terrorists.


But I shall now tell how Alaric captured Rome.

After much time had been spent by him in the siege, and he had not been able either by force or by any other device to capture the place, he formed the following plan. Among the youths in the army whose beards had not yet grown, but who had just come of age, he chose out three hundred whom he knew to be of good birth and possessed of valor beyond their years, and told them secretly that he was about to make a present of them to certain of the patricians in Rome, pretending that they were slaves.

Although modern etymology denies it, back in those days people thought that the name “Barbarian” referred to the beards (barba) considered to be a characteristic of Barbarians. Note: the pretend “slaves” did not look like Barbarians!


Among the youths in the army whose beards had not yet grown, but who had just come of age, he chose out three hundred whom he knew to be of good birth and possessed of valor beyond their years, and told them secretly that he was about to make a present of them to certain of the patricians in Rome, pretending that they were slaves. And he instructed them that, as soon as they got inside the houses of those men, they should display much gentleness and moderation and serve them eagerly in whatever tasks should be laid upon them by their owners;

Does this begin to sound familiar?


and he further directed them that not long afterwards, on an appointed day at midday, when all those who were to be their masters would most likely be already asleep after their meal, they should all come to the gate called Salarian and with a sudden rush kill the guards, who would have no previous knowledge of the plot, and open the gates as quickly as possible. After giving these orders to the youths, Alaric straightway sent ambassadors to the members of the senate, stating that he admired them for their loyalty toward their emperor, and that he would trouble them no longer, because of their valor and faithfulness, with which it was plain that they were endowed to a remarkable degree, and in order that tokens of himself might be preserved among men both noble and brave, he wished to present each one of them with some domestics.

So he flattered the SENATORS with absurd lies, and provided them with servants who did not act or look like Barbarians...


After making this declaration and sending the youths no long afterwards, he commanded the barbarians to make preparations for the departure, and he let this be known to the Romans. And they heard his words gladly, and receiving the gifts began to be exceedingly happy, since they were completely ignorant of the plot of the barbarians. For the youths, by being unusually obedient to their owners, averted suspicion, and in the camp some were already seen moving from their positions and raising the siege, while it seemed that the others were just on the point of doing the very same thing.

They were soooo innocent...


But when the appointed day had come, Alaric armed his whole force for the attack and was holding them in readiness close by the Salarian Gate; for it happened that he had encamped there at the beginning of the siege. And all the youths at the time of the day agreed upon came to this gate, and, assailing the guards suddenly, put them to death; then they opened the gates and received Alaric and the army into the city at their leisure. And they set fire to the houses which were next to the gate, among which was also the house of Sallust, who in ancient times wrote the history of the Romans, and the greater part of this house has stood half-burned up to my time; and after plundering the whole city and destroying the most of the Romans, they moved on.

Thus, we have pretend “slaves,” “servants,” “domestics;” who were “unusually obedient;” who (being beardless) did not look like Barbarians. No doubt, “they do the jobs that Romans won't do!” Notwithstanding their appearance and demeanor, in the event, they slew the guards and opened the gates to the terrorists of the day, Alaric's Barbarians.

I believe that these “beardless Barbarians” are an excellent metaphor for today's “undocumented immigrants” from Latin America



The Myths of The Magic Latinos1

MYTH 1: They are NOT “illegals.”

Undocumented immigrants,” we are constantly told, are all good folks, who have migrated to America to escape the poverty of their native lands. They are law abiding, hard working family folks, who only want to become American citizens, and live the American dream. They are NOT “illegals” they “have committed no crime,” we are told, they merely crossed the border without going through certain formalities.

Hard cold reality:

Consider a person who is living in America, but who either stole in surreptitiously, or did not leave as required when his lawful residency expired. Either is, in actual fact, a crime, subject to criminal penalties –including prison time:


8 USC Section 1325. Improper entry by alien

    (a) Improper time or place; avoidance of examination or inspection;
      misrepresentation and concealment of facts
      Any alien who (1) enters or attempts to enter the United States
    at any time or place other than as designated by immigration
    officers, or (2) eludes examination or inspection by immigration
    officers, or (3) attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United
    States by a willfully false or misleading representation or the
    willful concealment of a material fact, shall, for the first
    commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18 or
    imprisoned not more than 6 months, or both, and, for a subsequent
    commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18, or
    imprisoned not more than 2 years, or both.



Except for very limited circumstances (the independently wealthy, or those being paid by a foreign entity ie, terrorists and spies.) such a person must obtain money for basic necessities. They must either work for someone, or obtain public assistance (or be dependent on someone who does one of these). BOTH of these options require the use of a Social Security Card or at least an SS Number.

 (1) With certain exceptions, each person who applies for or receives cash, medical or food assistance benefits must provide to the department a Social Security number (SSN), or numbers if more than one has been issued.

But, an illegal alien cannot LEGALLY possess such a card. An illegal alien who does possess an SS Card must necessarily have obtained it by means of an illegal act or acts. That is to say, by committing a crime (or crimes):

42 U.S.C. § 408(a)(7)

And that is just the beginning.

Every time that Card (or Number) is used, for ANY reason, our illegal alien commits ANOTHER crime, another federal FELONY.


When an individual makes multiple false representations by misrepresenting a social security number on multiple credit card applications, bank accounts, or federal documents relating to employment (I-9, W-4), each use or representation constitutes a separate offense. Each of the separate offenses is supportable by a different set of predicate facts, and is actionable under § 408(a)(7)(B)

He ALSO simultaneously commits a federal felony (fraud) every time the false SSN is used in ANY Federal matter.

Again, EACH such use is a separate federal felony.

There is, of course, another category of illegal aliens who do not use any SS Card or SSN: those who work in the Black Job Market. They are secretly employed as illegals by knowing employers, who do not pay the required Federal (and State) taxes, etc (withholding, FICA, unemployment, workman's comp). By so doing, they both are engaging in a series of felonies – a conspiracy to defraud.

In fact, whether they use criminally obtained SS numbers or none at all, illegal alien workers and their employers combine into a massive, long term, continuing, CRIMINAL conspiracy. This conspiracy is intentionally abetted by federal and state agencies, NGOs, and even churches.

Remember, these are the best, the cream of the illegal aliens. Those who want to become American citizens. I call these criminal immigrants: “Crimigrants.”



Why?

How is it, then, that “Crimigrants,” the best of all illegals aliens, engage in such serious, serial, criminality? We are told that they cannot get ahead in their own homeland; that they come here to escape poverty; that there are no opportunities in their birth countries, as there are, here in America.

Fine. But we need to understand WHY their homelands are characterized by poverty and lack of opportunity. It is not lack of natural resources. Take Mexico, as an example:

Other major components of manufacturing output included textiles, clothing, and leather goods (6.3 percent); metals (5.2 percent; and paper products (3.5 percent).
Mexico is the world’s sixth largest oil producer, extracting an average of 3.4 million barrels per day of crude oil in 2005. As of January 2005, Mexico had 14.6 billion barrels of crude oil reserves—the third largest reserves in the Western Hemisphere...
Mexico has 420 billion cubic meters of proven natural gas reserves.

It is not because the citizens are not willing to work hard. The simple fact that Mexico illegally “exports” millions of willing workers to America, clearly demonstrates that Mexico possesses a vast resource of willing workers. Unfortunately, too many of those “willing workers” do not have the opportunities either to work or to improve their standard of living.
The reason, the cause, of Latino illegal immigration; and why the way we deal with it (this time) is crucial to the struggle between Civilization and the Barbarians is both obvious and not obvious. It has many ramifications which we will explore in part 2.
Remember (never forget!)... the “undocumented worker” (Crimigrant) Is a serial felon. So, also, is the Citizen who employs the Crimigrant.

The reason, the cause, of Latino illegal immigration; and why the way we deal with it (this time) is crucial to the struggle between Civilization and the Barbarians is both obvious and not obvious. It has many ramifications which we will explore in part 2.

In the prior article, we saw that the poverty and lack of opportunities (in Mexico, particularly, but similar conditions exist in most other homelands of illegal aliens) are NOT due to lack of natural resources, nor to lack of willing, hard workers.

The obvious, or surface, answer is government or political corruption. But the mere existence of corruption cannot be the difference, since we can easily find political corruption here, in America.



I contend that the difference is the different degrees of anomia in the US, and in Mexico et al.



Allow me to make clear, exactly what I mean by anomia. Anomia is a Classical Greek word, close kin to the modern French/English anomie.

1. social instability: instability in society caused by the erosion or abandonment of moral and social codes
2. social alienation: a feeling of disorientation and alienation from society caused by the perceived absence of a supporting social or moral framework

This word approximates what I am trying to express, but it carries certain sociological baggage which renders it inadequate. Thus, I use the Greek anomia. The etiology (above) is too brief to set forth the full meaning of the word. The following is from

[So, nomos does mean “law,” but it has a depth of meaning beyond the mere word “law.” It originates with the unwritten (even unspoken) customs governing the use of pastures by nomadic herdsmen. [ Anomos does mean “lawless,” but the significance is “not following customs, laws, societal norms, etc., necessary for harmony.”]

[So, the condition of anomia is “lawlessness,” but also much more. It means “the negation of law,” by (for instance) harsh enforcement of unjust law, law which is openly ignored by some with impunity, destroying the foundations of society or culture, destroying trust in institutions (and government) by open corruption. It also encompasses the negation of “societal norms” -- the accepted standards of behavior across a society.]




I submit that the reason that the dearth of OPPORTUNITY in Mexico (and other homelands of Crimigrants) is the higher level of anomia in those homelands than in the United States of America. To over-simplify the case, I submit that a rational person (in a region of high anomia ) would be unwilling to begin a business (which is the source of employment opportunity and self improvement) because, in additional to all of the normal business risks, high anomia means an unacceptably high risk of loss to corrupt government officials, confiscatory taxes, or criminal and terrorist gangs.

So far, the America still has a substantially lower level of anomia; although our level is rising. There are many reasons for that increase, but one of the most dire is the obvious and undeniable FACT that when illegal aliens smuggle themselves into America they carry with them the lawlessness (anomia) of their own native lands. Please remember that (so far) we are concerning ourselves with Crimigrants – the BEST of illegal aliens. Those who want to work hard and live honorably. The ones we would be glad to have as our neighbors. Even these superlative Crimigrants have acquired a lifelong habitual disregard for law in their homelands. Such a disregard cannot be washed away by a dip in the Rio Grande.

At least these Crimigrants from anomian cultures have that excuse or reason for their serial felonies. We must remember that the employers (and caseworkers) of these Crimigrants also engage in serial felonies. They know that they are acting in violation of the law, but for reasons ranging from “compassion” to naked greed, they choose to disregard that law. This indigenous criminal conspiracy is both caused by, and the cause of, increasing anomia in our own homeland.



As this is written, our “Senators” are trying to pass “comprehensive immigration” legislation. Nobody (except perhaps the gnomes who wrote it) knows what all of the 700 or so pages contain. I contend that it just doesn't matter. The actual contents of this bill just do not matter, because there will be two consequences, if we are foolish enough to allow its passage into LAW:



  1. It will “codify,” or “ratify,” or “pardon,” or “amnesty” or “officially pretend away” decades of serial, serious felonies committed by MILLIONS of illegal aliens AND millions of American citizens.

  2. As “Simpson-Mazzoli Grande,” it can (no MUST) be expected to dramatically increase illegal infiltration; and any and every provision of this law which claims to enforce prohibitions of either illegal infiltration, OR the employment of such illegals, can and will be ignored with impunity.



Any official action taken with regard to illegal infiltration which fails to admit, and address honestly, the actual, objective, reality of the massive criminality now in place would be an obvious fraud, on its face.

America, and the relatively high level of civilization we represent, has been deeply wounded. Our “soft underbelly” has been infiltrated by carriers of the infection of anomia. This external infection has been met by a home grown symbiotic anomia. The “miracle cure” of Simpson-Mazzoli did not cure. Instead, it gravely exacerbated the sickness. The sickness is much worse now, and any “Simpson-Mazzoli Grande” will further multiply that sickness (as did the original Simpson-Mazzoli). I am not saying that such will destroy American civilization. It is only one of many anti-civilizing forces we are facing today. But it is one with which we can effectively deal, by the simple expedient of:

  1. announcing that the already existing laws prohibiting the employment of illegal aliens WILL be [strictly and harshly] enforced AS OF A DATE CERTAIN.

  2. Also, announcing that the existing laws prohibiting Social Security number fraud will be enforced on any and every illegal still residing within the United States, as of a date certain.

  3. Also, announcing that laws against providing various kinds of public assistance to illegal aliens will be enforced as of a date certain. This must also contain serious sanctions on any government employee who continues to aid and abet this crime.

  4. Also, announcing that any illegal alien who so chooses will be given free transportation to their OWN homeland.

  5. Then, AFTER this anomian infection has been successfully treated, we can consider the much needed reform of our immigration laws, and their uneven and absurd enforcement.

By employing this simple plan, we can actually reverse some of the decline and fall of our civilization. If, instead, we allow our Senators to pass “Simpson-Mazzoli Grande,” it is unlikely that we will EVER be able to effectively address illegal infiltration.

The presently debated Simpson-Mazzoli Grande must necessarily violate the 14th amendment:

nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

Furthermore, any clone of Simpson-Mazzoli must similarly so violate. This is unsurprising, since the present state of enforcement of existing immigration laws (not to mention the SS fraud laws) is so absurdly discontinuous that it could reasonably stand as an examplar (nay, as the DEFINITION) of the phrase “Arbitrary and Capricious.” < STYLE="margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in">Consider the recent “raid” in Portland:


More than 165 workers were detained to be processed for possible deportation, officials said, and three people were indicted on immigration, illegal documents and identity theft charges.

Leigh Winchell, the special agent in charge of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement regional office in Seattle, responded by saying...
“The mayor is former law enforcement and he understands that we don’t always necessarily agree with the laws placed in front of us,” Winchell said. “I don’t make the laws. I enforce the laws.”
According to an affidavit filed by Maximillian Trimm, a special agent with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, a check of employee records at one point showed that only 48 of nearly 600 workers at the Fresh Del Monte Produce fruit and vegetable processing plant had valid Social Security numbers.
The raid Tuesday involved fewer than 600 workers because of seasonal employment changes and shift work, Winchell said.
He also said the timing of the raid was decided about a month ago and had “absolutely nothing” to do with the immigration reform debate in Congress this week.

THREE people out of 165? No! THREE people out of 552! 0in"“only 48 of nearly 600 workers...had valid Social Security numbers.”

Which begs the question: “Why not indict ALL 552?” To begin with, only ~165 (out of 552) were at the plant when the raid occurred. < STYLE="margin-left: 0in; margin-right: 0in">“because of seasonal employment changes and shift work,” Are we to suppose that it was merely the vagaries of chance that so few were there? It doesn't look like chance:the timing of the raid was decided about a month ago”

We cannot know as a certainty whether the time and date were intentionally chosen to involve as few illegal aliens as possible. We can, however, examine some public statements by the Agent in charge:Leigh Winchell.

...we don’t always necessarily agree with the laws placed in front of us,” Winchell said. “I don’t make the laws. I enforce the laws.”

I contend that Special Agent in Charge Winchell plainly and openly does NOT “...enforce the laws.” From an earlier “bust:”




BLAINE - For 54 people from India and Pakistan, coming to America meant spending thousands of dollars and slipping into the country through a field in rural Whatcom County.
The men, women and young children paid upward of $36,000 a head to a smuggling ring for forged passports and help to sneak into the United States.
Officials said they weren't planning on prosecuting the individual immigrants smuggled into the country. It remains unclear if they'll face deportation.

But Winchell believes the reasons illegal immigrants are coming aren't nefarious.
"The vast majority of these individuals coming into this country are coming here for a better way of life," he said.

...not nefarious.” One does not pay $36,000 for a forged passport without forming the intent to USE that false passport. They entered into a conspiracy to illegally infiltrate the US, to commission the forgery of false identification, with intent to use that ID to commit fraud (at the very least). If “coming here for a better way of life," means they plan to pick lettuce or pluck chickens, they must commit continuing Social Security frauds. Perhaps they are independently wealthy, in their own homeland; but decided that living here illegally would mean “a better way of life." Even these illegals with independent wealth would necessarily use false identification (and, therefore SS Number) for things like licenses, bank accounts, government forms like tax documents... or would they need to be tax evaders, too? (Remember Al Capone?) Although these motivations are possible, in the final analysis, they are not compelling.



More compelling is the idea that some of this group of illegals are employed outside the US, to do work HERE. If this were legitimate employment, they could enter openly, therefore legally. These people could be employed by a foreign business interest (industrial espionage) or a foreign government (military/political espionage – spies) or a terrorist organization (terrorism). This is, obviously, speculation. But it is a reasonable speculation.



What is NOT speculation is the fact that all of these illegals conspired to commit crimes, with the obvious intent to live in America by engaging in serial felonies, at the very least. If the word “nefarious” still has any determinable meaning, those many crimes are nefarious.



Winchell is “in Charge” of enforcing the law, but apparently feels that the mere fact of illegal infiltration exempts the infiltrator from being held to account for his criminal acts – they shouldn't even be deported. And, this is just one example of the de facto exemption of an entire category of people (illegal aliens) from any accountability for multiple felonies. ...

The 14th amendment was written just after the Civil War. The “equal protection” clause was needed, because former slaves were (in many States) not being protected by the laws. Though legally free, they were at times subject to lynching and to de facto slavery. Though these acts were against the law, those who perpetrated them were (typically) NOT held to account for their crimes. The law, in these States, did not protect emancipated slaves from those who would lynch and enslave them.

The sad, terrible, reality is that these crimes continued well into Twentieth Century America (the 14th Amendment notwithstanding).

The anti-slavery laws failed to protect Robert Sadler, because those in power “pretended away” the Equal Protection clause. (The racism behind this “pretending away” is pretty obvious.)

Anti-slavery laws presently fail to protect some illegal aliens from various degrees of slavery: from the utterly vile slavery of forced prostitution, to the relatively benign “unsafe working conditions,” “wage cheating,” etc. which are not reported because the workers are also committing serial felonies. Those illegal aliens who are subject to these varying forms of de facto slavery are also NOT protected by anti-slavery laws, wage and hour laws, or safety laws. I believe that Equal Protection is “pretended away” in the case of Illegal aliens by the very racism behind the de facto slavery and lynching of American Black people – but with better camouflage.

Another factor which I believe militates against Equal Protection for illegal aliens is that the wholesale, intentional refusal to hold illegals to account for their serial felonies also applies (more or less) to those American citizens who employ them. If a regulatory agency, or even ordinary law enforcement, hears about a situation in which Illegals are being mistreated, they very well may hesitate to act. Why? Because a labor law violation might bring to light the fact that hundreds of illegal aliens (whose labor rights were being violated) had themselves been committing serial felony frauds, with the full, direct, and specific knowledge of the Federal Government. But the crimes of the aliens were ignored -- “pretended away.” If the employers were to be punished for their crimes, and the aliens were not, everyone would be able to see that it was blatantly unfair.

Furthermore, The employer of illegals commits crimes when he submits documents to various State and Federal agencies containing obviously false SS numbers. It would be ludicrous to sanction an employer for (shall we say) lack of drinking fountains, when he (and his employees) are openly guilty of serial felony frauds (which must be “pretended away”).

Another large group of people who are NOT being accorded Equal Protection of the Law are not illegals. They are those citizens who are victims of “identity theft.” For years, these victims were accorded little, if any protection of the Law. They were told that it was a “civil matter,” not a crime. Even now, when ID theft is (mostly) criminalized, it is still a major problem.

Although part of the ID theft problem is committed by citizens for financial gain, the other part is committed by illegal aliens, also for financial gain:

Social Security numbers used by illegal aliens are either “made up,” or “belong to other persons...” Even the “made up” numbers may very well “belong to other persons.” This “...can result in the true owner of that number having benefits reduced, suspended, or terminated.” This can be devastating. Consider the case of (someone's) dear old Uncle Fred. Let's say that he is totally disabled, and could not put in a day's work, to save his life. Now, consider a petty bureaucrat. Perhaps someone who has felt offended by Uncle Fred, or who is maybe just a common uncaring creep. This bureaucrat notices that Dear Uncle Fred is plucking broilers in a chicken factory in Arkansas. Clearly, he reasons, Uncle Fred is in good health, and therefore, Fred's “disability” is fraudulent. He begins administrative proceedings which immediately stop Uncle Fred's Disability payments, AND require him to immediately repay all of the money which he has obtained by (imaginary) “fraud.”

Unless Uncle Fred has someone on his side who has both the power to rectify this situation, and the inclination to do so, Uncle Fred could soon discover the joys of living under bridges.

In this imaginary case, Dear old Uncle Fred is denied Equal Protection, largely because illegal aliens are NOT held to account for their criminal, felonious, fraudulent, use of “other people's” Social Security numbers. I imagine (although without hard evidence) that this de facto amnesty for illegal aliens is responsible for the unwillingness to pass effective laws against “identity theft.”

The late “Simpson/Mazzoli Grande” has been removed from public view, if not from public memory. Unless America faces the hard reality that ALL illegal aliens live in a world of continuing felonies, Simpson/Mazzoli Grande will be revived, in some form, and it will also violate the Equal protection clause.

Up to this point, we have been (except for the $36,000 “non nefarious” conspirators) concentrating on the “Magic Latinos.” These are those who work hard, try to assimilate and want to become good citizens. These are the folks you or I would want to have as neighbors. Now, we must consider those illegal aliens who do NOT fit that category.

Consider the “Mara Salvatrucha/MS-13” criminal gang. Consider terrorists. Consider the 9/11 terrorists who (mis)used student visas. Consider non-Latins who intentionally overstay their visa. Consider other (more) common criminals – drug dealers, scam artists, rapists, murderers, etc. Will the next Grande accord all of these the same amnesty intended for Magic Latinos?

If it does NOT, it will be in obvious violation of the Equal Protection clause.

Will it ratify (codify, set in stone) the present de facto immunity of MOST illegals from prosecution for serial felony Social Security frauds? If so, and the same immunity is not also accorded to citizen identity thieves? Even if the citizen thief only did it to “feed his family?” If not, that would be an open violation of Equal Protection.

Will the next Grande maintain the current system which (too often) substitutes deportation for any real penalty for vicious, horrible crimes. For instance, for raping a 3 year old:

The Equal Protection clause is, and should continue to be, a codification of fairness. Through this clause, our constitution declares to the world that our laws should be applied fairly.

Illegal aliens continually and openly commit crimes (of various kinds) but are only rarely accused; and even if accused are rarely prosecuted; and even if convicted, are all too often not sentenced to prison, but are given a free ride to their own homeland. When the un-protected flee the anomia of their homelands, and illegally enter the US, they find that they (and their employers and caseworkers) are a protected elite who are largely immune from accountability to the law. Although the illegal aliens brought with them a disregard for the law which is the product of their anomian homelands, they did not cause the anomia in which they find themselves, here.

The original Simpson/Mazzoli should have solved the illegal alien problem; but some American citizens decided not to follow the law. Then, various Government agencies decided (or were ordered) not to prosecute (most) immigration crimes. That willful misprision was then extended to the multiple felony Social Security frauds of the illegal aliens, AND to the felonious acts of the aliens' illegal employers (co-conspirators).

Simpson/Mazzoli should have worked. I believe it would have worked, if everyone involved believed that it would be seriously and fairly enforced. But, they didn't believe it would be. They didn't believe in the Rule of Law, or in Equal Protection, or even in ordinary truth. Instead, they believed in pretending.

In a little kid, pretending can be cute. In an adult, pretending is pathetic, at best. For a great nation, having a large part of its population pretend away the rule of law is a serious problem. To deal with this problem, the rule of law must be re-established. Existing laws (not only immigration laws, but also fraud laws) must be equitably, fairly, and honestly enforced. Illegal aliens, potential future illegal aliens, their employers, and other co-conspirators must be made to see and believe that they will no longer be allowed to violate the law, without serious consequences.

If this one thing were accomplished, the illegal alien problem would largely disappear. Few would employ illegals, if they believe that they will be fairly and justly penalized for their crimes. Few aliens would illegally infiltrate, if they believe that they will not (likely) be employed; and, if they are employed, that they will be fairly and justly penalized for their own crimes.

We have tried “pretending away” the rule of law. We must stop pretending, and re-establish the rule of law – fairly and justly administered.

Vagrancy laws or not, the new immigration law in Arizona is not really new at all. It is simply an assuming of the responsibility by the state because the federal government failed to prosecute the laws that are already on the books.

Obama now must make a choice, defend the borders or admit that open borders are part of his political agenda. The choice is between the citizens of the USA and the citizens of Central and South America. Who does he represent?

Agreed. It’s insane that folks are complaining because someone is actually going to enforce the laws already on our books. It’s insane that Arizona even has to CONSIDER taking over the responsibility for this, but I support these actions. SOMETHING needs to be done.
