WASHINGTON, April 25, 2010 – President Barack Obama and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev issued a joint statement today to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the meeting of Soviet and American troops at Elbe River during World War II. Here is the statement in its entirety:

April 25, 2010 marks the 65th anniversary of the legendary meeting of Soviet and American troops at the Elbe River, which became a striking symbol of the brotherhood-in-arms between our nations during World War II.

We pay tribute to the courage of those who fought together to liberate Europe from fascism. Their heroic feat will forever remain in the grateful memory of mankind.

The atmosphere of mutual trust and shared commitment to victory, which accompanied the historic handshake at the Elbe, is especially called for today when Russia and the United States are building a partnership for the sake of a stable and prosperous world. We are convinced that, acting in the “spirit of the Elbe” on an equitable and constructive basis, we can successfully tackle any tasks facing our nations and effectively deal with the challenges of the new millennium.

I wonder if Obozo knows or even cares that Stalin followed up that striking symbol of brotherhood in arms by later ordering the execution of every man that came into contact with Americans at the Elbe. It’s erie watching the documentary footage of the event, knowing that every poor smiling Sov. was stood against a wall and shot by their own leader simply for being “contaminated” by the West.

Cute, just when you think you’ve heard it all, some episode about Stalin comes to light.

Leftists have been overlooking a lot for a long time, when it comes to the soviets.

My personal favourite, Kietel, Jodl and ribbentrop were convicted at Nuremburg of the partition of Poland (found guilty by all judges including the soviets).

Events like this demonstrate how the so-called anti-war, anti-military crowd is nothing of the sort.

Anti-U.S. military, you bet.

But any Army with Red in the title is to be paid homage.

Soetoro treated the fall of the Berlin Wall as a tragedy, and didn’t find room in his remarks to mention Reagan, Thatcher, or JPII.

But Stalin’s seizing of Easter Europe is something to celebrate!

Of course, we already knew Soetoro was a Communist.

and he's committed U.S. troops to march in the May Day Parade in Moscow in Red Square.

Stalin liquidated numerous Russians after the fighting was over. They begged the U.S. for asylum, but were loaded into railroad cars and returned, on orders from FDR.

That incident curiously resembled the earlier loading up of Jews to send them to the Death Camps.

But as you say, it’s doubtful whether Obama knows anything about it. He is totally incurious about Western history. He thinks that the Austrians speak Austrian. He thinks that there are 57 states in America. He thinks that America is a Muslim country, not a Christian country.

But he’s pretty much up on the history of Islam—except that he accepts the totally whitewashed story of them as spreading civilization among ignorant people.

Elbe River Meeting - that’s when Eisenhower obeyed the New World Order and held our armies back until the Russians were where they wanted them.

I’d never before heard of this incident or the annual commemoration of it, but it does seem to have gone on for some time.

This old newspaper account (link below) from 1959 says that reunions between US and Soviet veterans have been held since 1955. It also mentions “The American veterans arrived Tuesday. They will be guests at the Soviet May Day parade in Moscow.”

Perhaps there will be an “Elbe River” moment on the Potomac when Patriot forces unite after driving the Obamulans down from New England and up from the Southeast to their defeat and unconditional surrender in DC.

Russia's Leaders See China as Template for Ruling
New York Times ^ | October 17, 2009 | CLIFFORD J. LEVY

MOSCOW — Nearly two decades after the collapse of the Communist Party, Russia’s rulers have hit upon a model for future success: the Communist Party.

Or at least, the one that reigns next door.

Like an envious underachiever, Vladimir V. Putin’s party, United Russia, is increasingly examining how it can emulate the Chinese Communist Party, especially its skill in shepherding China through the financial crisis relatively unbowed.

United Russia’s leaders even convened a special meeting this month with senior Chinese Communist Party officials to hear firsthand how they wield power. ..."

“The accomplishments of China’s Communist Party in developing its government deserve the highest marks,” Aleksandr D. Zhukov, a deputy prime minister and senior Putin aide, declared at the meeting with Chinese officials on Oct. 9
