It is a strange marriage indeed when tea-party leaders fall in line with Washington insiders to support a man who more than any other Republican embodies all the compromises and sellouts that have weakened the Republican Party since the end of the Reagan presidency. John McCain has not only been on the wrong side of nearly every important domestic policy battle over the past decade, he has often been the leader of those efforts. Bush's "compassionate conservatism" would have been DOA without "mavericks" like McCain.
It's not just Sarah Palin. There are many other very good people who have decided to accept the biggest lie of the 21st Century: John McCain's promise to be good.

They are insane, all of them.

I'd sooner believe Obama when he tells me that I'm going to end up loving MengeleCare than I would believe McCain promising that from now on he's going to be a conservative.

Why are so many otherwise good people falling for the most stupendous lie of the millenium?

Sarah Palin, shame on you. And shame on all the rest of you, too.

The one thing McCain and 0bama have in common is the fact that they are both shameless liars, and will lie about anything if it stands to obtain some sort of political advantage for them. I reiterate: they are both LIARS.

Why are so many otherwise good people falling for the most stupendous lie of the millenium? Sarah Palin, shame on you. And shame on all the rest of you, too.

There is actually a good explanation for McCain's absurd lies and assurances that he's going to be a good conservative from now on, and it goes back to his captivity by the Communists in North Vietnam, i.e., by McCain's own admission, he was 'broken' by torture while he was a POW in Hanoi. I don't hold that against him. But I do consider him to be damaged psychological goods and his word cannot be trusted anymore than the words of the now burning Ho Chi Minh could be trusted. McCain TOLD US HE WAS BROKEN by torture, he learned, under the most horrific conditions imaginable, that if he said what he was told to say, that he could avoid pain, discomfort, disgrace (maybe) and death.

He's still applying that lesson today, as he tries to avoid his own political death.

McCain is a liar. He is unstable. He has to go.
