Any word about Columbus, Meridian or Starkville?
I have a sister in Macon. I worry about her more than usual during spring storm season.

Haley is on now and near tears. I feel so bad for these people.

Looks like it went a bit north of Columbus, but I’m not sure. Most of the coverage is on Yazoo. Prayers for your sister.

Haley has had a lot on his shoulders, first Katrina, now this.

OMG...that looks like a Texas size twister. Amazing photo!
Yes, OMG is right! I sure hope they receive some aid.

I remember when the kids were little, like 2 & 5, we were in the closet and turned up tv really loud, cordless phone and shoes. Helpless feeling. Then the power goes out, can’t hear weatherman & warning and cordless phone is worthless. Hopefully now cell phones would work. Still is very scary. Bathrooms make me nervous with all the mirror and laundry room with hot water heater IF one were to hit. So we aim for closet with lots of comforters and lots of pillows.

It’s 4 pm and we are under both severe thunderstorm and tornado watches and it’s not raining. No sirens yet, so there’s nothing on the ground.
To: Qwackertoo
Where were you in ‘89 when the tornados went through Jones Valley (an area of Huntsville)?

I’ve been watching the local newsreports and scenes from YC, Satartia, Durnan and the roadsides, and thank God, apparently there’s destruction but not deaths. H
Haley Barbour’s spokesman said there’s open gas lines in the YC area, so lookie-loo’s need to stay out and I think you have to go through Flora to get to YC anyway.
That Oklahoma weather might have followed your dear mom! We were warned about severe weather for this morning on last night’s news, but I didn;t pay it any mind, because this small city hasn’t been hit by a tornado since 1928 or 1929 and it was a tree-top tornado.
I trust you’re well, dear Magnolia. (((Hugs)))

Sirens going off in Saint Louis County Missouri. Doplar is indicating the storm is in south county/JeffCo along I-44. If it comes too much farther north, I’m taking the dogs and heading to the basement.

Reports of two children killed in Choctaw now. Six counties affected according to WBLT.

How horrible... Prayers continue. I’m sure there is a lot of rescuing going on, and someone reported life flights a while back as well. I pray the number does not rise.

Surreal is a very good word for it. I can't look at it without getting goosebumps.
