[snip]PHOENIX (AP) - Nine Arizona State University students were arrested Tuesday at the state Capitol in Phoenix during a protest against a sweeping immigration bill intended to ramp up law enforcement efforts in Arizona.
As members of the immigrant advocacy and faith community spoke out strongly against the legislation, the students chained themselves to a door closest to the legislative wing of the Capitol.
They were soon after arrested and taken to the Maricopa County jail. (Welcome to Sheriff Joe’s place! lol)
Attorney Antonio Bustamante, who represents 1 of the students arrested, says the students chose to chain themselves to the Capitol doors to “block the bigotry that was emanating from the Legislature” and send a message to Gov. Jan Brewer.
