Small Riot Breaks Out at Immigration Protest
Updated: Friday, 23 Apr 2010, 7:16 PM MDT Published : Friday, 23 Apr 2010, 4:21 PM MDT
The fight over Senate Bill 1070 took to the streets of downtown Phoenix, as riot Police were called to the Capitol to control an unruly group of protesters.
Witnesses say a group protesting against SB1070 began to fight with a man who was for the controversial immigration bill.
Police tried escorting that man away from the scene, fearing for his safety, when they too came under attack by people throwing items, including water bottles.
A young man was arrested during that melee.
Things calmed down moments later, but riot Police remained at the capital to maintain some sort of order.
Earlier in the day, Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer signed SB1070 into law,.

You bet
Yet, for them it's typical...This time it was 2000 against 1.
I’ve got two words for Arizona officers... rubber bullets.
Don’t take that crap. Put those bottom feeders in their place.
If immigration laws were enforced- against both employers and illegals, many could be deported that way and more would self-deport if enforcement became standard. Other illegals could be deported as they came to the attention of Law Enforcement for other reasons. It can be done, and all it takes is to do the job that has been long neglected. First we need to secure the border, then make them want to go home by enforcing laws they are already in violation of.
It would be easier than you think, it would not happen overnight but as many were caught for other things and deported, more would leave on their own before it happened to them.
It is simply a liberal lie that there is no way to deal with those that are here other than amnesty.
As they come to the attention of LEO they can be deported whether or not there is violence in their home country. If they own a business that is their problem- they will have to sell it or close it and return if laws are enforced.
As far as those subject to violence in Mexico- they can apply to stay here legally for that reason- most are denied but maybe if their citizens go home in numbers they can clean up their country.
Most of what concerns you will be their problem to deal with- if they can’t work and live here they will leave. I see some moving back now just due to the economy and they of course know of the violence.
Remember it is not just Mexicans that are illegals here- they are the majority- but we must remember we have illegals from nearly every country.
Just because dealing with those here now by legally enforcing the laws won’t be easy does not mean we shouldn’t do it. It can be done gradually and it will work.
The alternative is much, much worse for this country. If there is any form of amnesty it will cause mass illegal migration into this country. Whatever the requirements are there will be an attempt to use forged documents to qualify. When politicians even mention amnesty there is a flood of illegals across the border in anticipation. The number given amnesty will be far greater than any number you have heard for illegals, the costs will be out of sight and in my opinion our country will never be the same.
Think about the bureaucratic burden amnesty would put on us, tons of employees would have to be hired to deal with the massive amounts of claims- investigations will bog down our Immigration system. It will require great effort and cost on our part to process amnesty or illegal deportation. I would much rather put that effort into deporting those that are here illegally.
To me it is a no-brainer- they came here illegally and most violate other laws while here. This is not something I want to reward in any way. If immigration laws are meaningless then we need to just throw out all of our laws. Why should anyone be in violation?
It sounds like your plan is being tried in Arizona right now so we can watch and see how that goes. The only part left out, of course, is that the federal government has not secured the border.
Everyone that has commented in this thread has seen border control as a critical first step. The border could be secured very quickly. It is obvious that both Repbulican and Democrat leaders do not want to do that.
If I was going to map out a strategy, it would be to push those leaders to control the border and focus on border control exclusively. By way of an incremental approach, I would pruposefully avoid the issues of those already here illegally until the first step is done.
Well, to be fair, I saw several security (yellow shirts) people trying to stop it, and one was even jumping up to catch thrown bottles. They must know that this type of thing does not help their cause at all.
Sounds reasonable- but politicians keep trying to ram amnesty down our throats- without securing the border. If we wait for anything we will get amnesty. We would still be mapping out a strategy while they are implementing amnesty. We would be on step one and they would be handing out citizenship.
Deport them to Mexico and they will just return. Fact is our border cannot be secured. Ask the East Germans or North Koreans how difficult it is to lock a border down and prevent unauthorized crossing.
I say deport them to Alaska and sentence them to 2 years labor in the oil fields, the money they make will go to pay for their English classes, American history classes and immunizations, then when they get out put them at the back of the line for naturalization.
Also remove the anchor baby situation by requiring at least 1 parent is a full US citizen or on a permanent legal resident visa.
We need to fix this, but we also need our birth rate to stay about 2.1 in this country.
We should also put a US Army Recruiting Station in every place in Mexico these illegals are coming from. If we give them better options they will take it and at that point we can control who we accept and how they are naturalized. We can turn the situation around and make it better; But I don’t think we can steam the tide of the migration.
Wow he’s got a posse??
Attention whore, like at lib sites with avatars and the same “cool” saying at the bottom of each post
OH, and several smilies in every post
I discovered long ago that there is never anything in the box worth reading, and use it a a “scroll past” signal
You see how they remove the victim of the illegal insurgent criminal invaders instead of stopping and arresting the perps?
SSDD PC crap
Don’t rile up the scum anti-American low lifes, they might kill, kidnap and rape and maim more citizens and border patrol officers
I’m tired of this crap
Might as well just merge with Mexico then.
Couldn’t agree more. This is plain surrender IMO.
