Dissidents in the world's most oppressive countries aren't feeling the love from President Obama.
No one seems to know precisely who is behind the "Miss Me Yet?" billboard—the cheeky one featuring a grinning George W. Bush that looks out over I-35 near Wyoming, Minn. But Syrian dissident Ahed Al-Hendi sympathizes with the thought.
In 2006, Mr. Hendi was browsing pro-democracy Web sites in a Damascus Internet café when plainclothes cops carrying automatic guns swooped in, cuffed him, and threw him into the trunk of a car. He spent over a month in prison, some of it alone in a 5-by-3 windowless basement cell where he listened to his friend being tortured in the one next door. Those screams, he says, were cold comfort—at least he knew his friend hadn't been killed.
Mr. Hendi was one of the lucky ones: He's now living in Maryland as a political refugee where he works for an organization called Cyberdissidents.org. And this past Monday, he joined other international dissidents at a conference sponsored by the Bush Institute at Southern Methodist University to discuss the way digital tools can be used to resist repressive regimes.
He also got to meet the 43rd president. In a private breakfast hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Bush, Mr. Hendi's message to the former president was simple: "We miss you." There have been "a lot of changes" under the current administration, he added, and not for the better.

I got to thinking about that more today... I think the context had to do with Putin not being able to trust Clinton. So, they are probably back to the same feeling with Obama. He doesn’t keep his word, even to his own supporters who put him in office.

I actually feel quite sorry for them...they truly miss out on a chance to admire someone who is the ideal of Christian moral character and strength. For instance, I never remember President Bush attacking an American citizen. He never spoke badly about those who so viciously attacked him. Many take that as a sign of weakness, they simply do not understand.

It's amazing that it now takes courage to stand up for a man of the kind of character George W. Bush possesses.
I'm old enough to know, however, that in time, the now uncontrolled anger will abate, and sanity will regain a stronghold, and some of the same people will be singing a different tune, just like they did after bashing Reagan.

Since there was/is no way to do away with medicare/social security/medicaid the next best thing is to try and save money on the programs. You are correct -- in 2008 alone the program cost 12% less than was originally estimated.
Since we MUST pay for this I would rather pay $100 for heart or diabetes meds, than $100s of thousands for open heart surgery or an amputation.
Now that is a cost saving program We will never hear about it from MSM

How to say this .....
President Bush spoke -- used the bully pulpit -- nearly everyday. Why did we not see/hear him everyday, 24/7 for 8 years. Perhaps it was not that he did not use it, as much as it simply was not broadcast to the masses.
Why? Because the country, WOT, GOP and military would be a lot better off. And THAT was simply NOT acceptable and would not have ushered in the RAT CONgre$$ in 2006 and the jug-eared Kenyan Kommunist in 2008.
How sad! Thankfully, President Bush continues to help them through his Institute!
Nor was Gerhard Schroeder. Like I said, there were reasons both of them were replaced with pro-west, pro-W leaders like Sarkozy and Merkel.
I did think of another one ... the PM of India, Manmohan Singh. In January 2009 he told President Bush: "The people of India deeply love you." By all accounts the two of them appeared to have a very good relationship.
Oh, did you know Jordan's King Abdullah II visited President Bush in Texas last week after the "nuclear security summit?" No mention of a visit with BO/BS.
Oh...oh...almost forgot! President Bush had a very congenial and workable relationship with President Karzai, PM Maliki and a couple of the tribal leaders from Iraq and of course Israel, although the moron between Sharon and Netanyahu was a drag. You cannot say that about the current occupant and any of those I just mentioned.
I also keep hearing these rumors about how much President Bush did for Africa -- saving millions of lives and generating goodwill for America around the world.
But what the hey -- Chavez, Castro, Ahmadinnerjacket and Little Kimmy hated him so that is equal to the "world hates us routine."
