(CNSNews.com) The head of the National Council of LaRaza pleaded with Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer Thursday not to sign into law a bill that could become the toughest immigration statute in the nation.
It perpetuates the fantasy that we can detain and deport millions of people from our country as a solution to our immigration problems and it propagates the notion that immigrants who are working hard in the Arizona economy are a criminal element to be rounded up and incarcerated, LaRaza President and CEO Janet Murguia said during a telephone news conference.

La Raza is a 100 percent racist organization, right down to their name.
So, The Race is upset? Too bad, you pack of racist jackals.
Gov. Rick Perry!! ...are you watching?
Good. Now get the damn illegals out of our country.
You hit the nail on the head with that. My family is Cuban on my father’s side. Everybody immigrated legally, and we are all Americans...nobody is a Cuban-American. This “gentleman” is an advocate for criminals, not for Hispanics.
Bump! Ever notice, also, how the “immigrant groups” only support amnesty for certian illegal immigrants (e.g. only Mexico or Latin America)? These groups never seem terribly vocal when illegal immigrants are from Russia, China, Italy, etc.
“La Raza President: Immigration Bill Would Make Living in Arizona a Police State for Hispanics”
You could try Mexico. It’s Hispanic-friendly and right across the border.
>>Not a good test. There are many American Indians who
live in and were born in Arizona who don’t speak English
at all.<<
I agree. I don’t consider it a test, but just a strong clue. Fred Reed, when riding with cops in the Chicago Ghetto mentioned that when you saw white boys in a car it usually meant they were there to buy drugs. It was not a test, but it was a strong clue. In that case, it was a VERY strong clue.
In this case, if someone is Hispanic (and most illegal Mexicans are just “southern” American Indians) and can’t speak English during a routine traffic stop, it would simply be more prudent for a reasonable police officer to use that as one of the clues to determine if examining the license as a forgery, etc. May be in order.
If someone is black or white or Asian it would probably be less of an issue. Racial and sexual profiling is arguably THE most useful weapon at the disposal of our police for effectively doing their job. I’d like to see the TSA embrace it.
They all waited (or their parents did) for their chance at citizenship. Did all the right things, filled out all the right forms, etc etc etc. Not to be trite, I think that they view illegals/amnesty as "cutting in line".
La Raza (The Race) have to be one of the biggest groups of hypocrites out there.....any group that calls themselves “The Race” is nothing more than being a Ku Klux Klan outfit
If you don’t like it Mr. too bad. GO BACK TO YOUR COUNTRY OF BIRTH!!!!!!!!!! We don’t want you!
What fantasy? That is exactly what Mexico does with its illegals and they are not compassionate in their treatment of those the catch. Leave you worthless criminals.
FUBO
Cop sees the aforementioned kid on the drivers side of a truck, parked on a street. Black kid is sitting on the passenger side next to him. Cop stops, starts giving them both the fifth degree: "What are you doing here? Not buying drugs, are you? Etc."
Fred was sympathetic....the kid's story was checking out completely. They were good friends, see. Just talking after work, etc etc. Fred couldn't understand why the hard time.
Cop says "Well, if you're good pals, (nods at one)...what's your friend's name?"
Kid didn't have an answer. Fred started to get suspicious, too. Long story short, it turned out that it was drugs, as the cop suspected.
'Twas an eye-opening article for me. Spun "Racial Profiling" 180 degrees around in my head, because if it had two black kids in the truck, the cop wouldn't have given them a second glance.
Sends a message,, if you ain’t legal,,stay out of Arizona. Go to Mass or R.I.,,, they think it’s funny.
La Raza cannot take any chances that this bill might actually be shown to work by even the smallest measure.
If that happens, they'll see a domino effect across dozens of other states faster than they can write a new press release.
I sincerely doubt that is true. I grew up in Arizona near the Navajo and Hopi Reservations and even in the 1950s and 1960s it was rare to find one that couldn't speak English. I also lived in Casa Grande and knew many of the Indians in that area. Many chose not to speak English because they had chosen to follow their native ways- but they indeed learned English and could speak it when needed. Also it would be a pretty dumb LEO that couldn't tell the differences in the language and dialect, even without being fluent in other languages. Indians also have all the normal forms of ID, plus usually a tribal census card.
In my opinion LEO will be able to enforce this law without profiling or dragging minority citizens to the hoosegow. LEO use many clues to determine if someone is a "person of interest" and needs more investigation. They are good at what they do. The media will say it is about the clothes- or the language but it won't be that simple- it will be a series of things that might lead LEO to take a second look at someone.
Where I live we deal with the Border Patrol regularly in traffic stops; they are also good at what they do and I don't believe what they do is racial profiling since I am a pale skinned blond and have been stopped many times. One of my daughters dated an Australian that was here on a student VISA and the BP checked him out thoroughly on more than one occasion and once he was in trouble because he didn't have the documents with him he was supposed to carry. Doesn't sound like they rely on racial profiling or should since there are illegals here from nearly every other country on the planet.
Not speaking English indeed may be a clue- but only one clue to be used along with other clues. I would think for someone to get their attention it would likely be a traffic stop and the first issues will be if the person has all the usual paperwork in order- same if one is involved in some other sort of activity that comes to the attention of LEO- do they have ID? What kind, legitimate or otherwise- then they will move on from there.
I just don't see all this as a problem- will some LEO take advantage to harass someone? Maybe but there are bad LEO out there now that harass people so I don't see this creating a new issue.
That's why they're nicknamed "the Klan with a Tan."
La raza is Soros funded.
