Bill Davis is calm and methodical as he describes his group's goals.
You could say he has a deadly earnestness.
"If we think they're carrying drugs, weapons, contraband, we'll get out in front of 'em and stop 'em," says Davis. "They won't get past us. You can write into that what you want, short of shooting them."
Davis is recruiting combat veterans, with kill records, to camp out and patrol along the border, and he isn't afraid to let the world know.
"I want the word to get out, and I'm sure it is, that the routine isn't going to be tolerated anymore," he adds.
Why kill records? Davis says he wants professionals-- "no wannabes, no Rambos."
"If it comes to when shots are fired in the general direction of these guys, they have my authorization to return fire, if they're in defense of their life or their buddy next to them, return fire, stop it as fast as it starts, and they're capable of it.
And as fast as it starts, believe me, they'll stop it," promises Davis.
"It's very dangerous, and it's very risky," says Tony Estrada, Sheriff of neighboring Santa Cruz County. "They don't know exactly what these cartels reaction is going to be if they get in the way."
Estrada worries members of the militia could get caught in a crossfire between law enforcement and traffickers. He also says smugglers could view militia as 'rip-off artists'.
"These individuals that are moving people or drugs through these remote areas of the border will stop at nothing," adds Estrada.
In any event, Davis says he has received 8,000 applications for the armed patrols from all over the US and Canada and could have several dozen militia members ready to act within a few hours notice.
"What we do is we act as a glorified neighborhood watch, and we're a deterrent," he says.
“I am told by older gentlemen who live along the border that there have already been cases of ranchers applying the three Ss on cross-border predators.”
If you are hearing it, then someone isn’t applying the third S effectively enough.
Well, the information I presented is all I was told. No specifics, just that it had already happened. Some years ago as I recall. It’s just a rumor, but if you know the conditions down on the border, it’s a very believable one.
I don’t think these guys know exactly what they’re up against. Its no longer some down-on-his-luck mule, shuffling across the border for a pay-off on the other side. Its now dedicated killers who glory in the mass murdering, beheadings and dismemberment of the people who stand in their way.
I am told by older gentlemen who live along the border that there have already been cases of ranchers applying the three Ss on cross-border predators.
If you are hearing it, then someone isnt applying the third S effectively enough.”
Correct!!
Logic tells me that ranchers were forced into his position many years ago and they aren’t going to run from the intruders—drug cartels or not. Ranchers know every inch of their properties. Illegals don’t.
I don’t have thousands of acres, but I could backhoe a body here with no trouble at all.
“It’s very dangerous, and it’s very risky,” says Tony Estrada, Sheriff of neighboring Santa Cruz County. “They don’t know exactly what these cartels reaction is going to be if they get in the way.”
If the government effectively took on this obligation, private citizens wouldn’t have to. One wonders, when the government fails to do its job, if its institutional incompetence, lack of resources or a volitional political choice.
The border states need to pass laws, similar to the “Stand your ground” laws, that authorizes the use of deadly force against illegal alien trespassers.
Right, so if they don’t do it, and the Sheriff is a wuss, and the federal gov’t won’t do anything, then these overly dangerous people you’re talking about are going to walk right in.
That’s what you want? What’s your solution?
I understand you, wita. It's high time US citizens responsibly undertake to defend our country against criminal cartels.
And so the inevitable border war between the United States and Mexico gets ratcheted up another notch. We are clearly under attack, but our gov't ignores this plain fact.
Its very dangerous, and its very risky, says Tony Estrada, Sheriff of neighboring Santa Cruz County.
Which is why extraordinary citizens must do what law enforcement lacks the will to do, and the is, DEFENDING our country.
Of course, the above statements by me are only predictions of what is likely to occur, as I do not advocate anyone breaking any laws. Let me also add that there are certain moral laws that override any man-made law.
They have murdered thousands of people in the past few years and no police or government agents were spared mass beheadings and being dumped by the side of the road.
I'm hoping the border "Neighborhood Watch" guys bring enough fire power.
The cartels rely on a thoroughly cowed populace, thus the violence against unarmed people. The cowards that carry out this violence act in the dark, under cover of night.
The cartels greatest fear is of the populace rising up against them. Armed, battle tested, American Army trained folks arrayed against them would be an absolute disaster to their operations. Cowards do not go for stand-up fights, and they likely realize that they have no chance against a trained, veteran force.
Oh, and I suggest somebody go and check that local Sherriff’s bank account for suspicious large deposits...

It wouldn’t be a crossfire...that would imply that both sides were shooting, and Obama would never allow our forces to return fire.
Yikes. I have never heard it put that way. I must ponder. I fear that you are entirely correct.
About time someone went lock and load on coyotes and drug cartels.
That sheriff needs to either help defend the ranchers...or get out of the way. Any attempt to stop Bill Davis’ group means you are aiding and abetting the drug cartels
They need to buy some surplus armored vehicles and light helicopters.
So, with this latest bit of escalation, I wonder if the Mexican troops who have repeatedly invaded the USA will fire upon the militia to “protect the interests of Mexican citizens.”
That would be the next step in the escalation of this war that is not a war, since we already know that the smugglers and thugs from the cartels have no qualms against firing on US citizens, at which point troops would have to be mobilized lest more citizens form up to take matters into their own hands. The federales would not be able to stomach free people exercising their rights in such a fashion.
In all likelihood, it would lead to national guard or active duty troops being sent to “enforce the peace” through martial law, undoubtedly confiscating firearms from citizens in the process under that pretense.
That was m'point.
