Goldman's White House connections raise eyebrows

WASHINGTON — While Goldman Sachs' lawyers negotiated with the Securities and Exchange Commission over potentially explosive civil fraud charges, Goldman's chief executive visited the White House at least four times.

White House logs show that Chief Executive Lloyd Blankfein traveled to Washington for at least two events with President Barack Obama, whose 2008 presidential campaign received $994,795 in donations from Goldman's political action committee, its employees and their relatives. He also met twice with Obama's top economic adviser, Larry Summers.

No evidence has surfaced to suggest that Blankfein or any other Goldman executive raised the SEC case with the president or his aides. SEC Chairwoman Mary Schapiro said in a statement Wednesday that the SEC doesn't coordinate enforcement actions with the White House or other political bodies.

Meanwhile, however, Goldman is retaining former Obama White House counsel Gregory Craig as a member of its legal team.

SFGate.com has been smearing Meg Whitman with her ties to Goldman Sachs, yet they haven’t mentioned a single word about Obama’s Million dollar donation from Goldman Sachs.

The MSM is beyond biased - they are blatantly absurd.

No wonder lefties are so uninformed. Their main news sources keep them ignorant and those readers are also intellectually lazy as well, so trying to debate them is futile due to their willful ignorance and the fact that the media lies by omission.

The fact that SFGate.com attempts to smear Whitman with GS while willfully omitting the fact that Obama got a Million bucks from GS says it all.

Geez all the candidates have ties to Goldman....article link:

Whitman feels heat as Goldman's image tarnishes

Whitman's supporters argue that Brown and Poizner also have ties to the firm.

"It is highly disingenuous and hypocritical for Team Brown to make accusations surrounding Meg's service on a board for only 15 months nearly 10 years ago, when Jerry Brown's own sister oversees Goldman Sachs' dealings with the state of California," said Tucker Bounds, a spokesman for Whitman.

Yet, no mention of Obama in the article by Marinucci, who is nothing more than a DNC shill masquerading as a “journalist”

I’m SF born and raised and currently live just north of SF in Marin County, and the people here are clueless about politics as they are intellectually lazy and ill-informed thanks in large part to the media, yet they believe themselves to be much better informed and to be intellectually superior than those “dumb hicks” in “flyover country”

You should hear what they say about Palin - all the falsehoods and half-truths, yet at the same time, they call her stupid.

The irony of it is staggering and it would be laughable if these people weren’t voters.

Sadly, many of these ignorant people are making decisions and vote in national elections that affect all of us.

Intellectually lazy and ill-informed is putting it mildly.
