Pito tubes can be fouled and obstructed, and clogged from proper drainage by any number of environmental debris. Improper drainage can lead to inaccurate airspeed indication and the possibility of a cascade of computer errors.

All the news has been about clogged engines. What about the small pitot tubes that we all heard were so important to measuring air speed, and were possibly the cause of the Air France crash in the south Atlantice in 2009? Any chance of these things getting clogged and malfunctioning?

That's what I thought. The Dutch seemed to be echoing the English I read (my perspective). Though I don't know Dutch.

As someone who has been in the airline industry with a major airline for 25 years, I find that to be a wild-assed statement.

"As someone who has been in the airline industry with a major airline for 25 years, I find that to be a wild-assed statement." Right, because a plane has never crashed because an airline or airlineS have skimped on safety in favor of profitability. /s
I can't give you one reason why what I said might be accurate, but I can give you 400 million reason - each day.

Your strawmen aside, the industry as a whole does not ‘lose a plane’ the individual airline does.
Apparently hyperbole appeals to you. But if your scenario actually played out, no one would be buying tickets even if the airlines were flying. And they would not be, the maintenance personnel and/or the pilots themselves would ground the airplanes if the management or the FAA did not step in.
Obviously you dont have a clue on what you are talking about, what you said is not accurate at all. And this is an insulting game you are playing IMO.
