PPP: Burns by three

Republican businessman Tim Burns holds a three-point lead in next month's special election for Pennsylvania's 12th Congressional District, according to a Public Policy Polling survey released Tuesday.
PPP shows Burns leading Democrat Mark Critz, a former aide to the late Rep. John Murtha, 44 percent to 41 percent. Burns also has a higher net favorability rating than Critz: 45 percent of voters view him favorably and 26 percent view him unfavorably, compared with 41 percent who have a favorable view of Critz and 34 percent who have an unfavorable view.
Burns's edge in the district, where Democrats hold a significant voter registration advantage, appears to stem in part from strong voter dissatisfaction with the Obama administration.
The poll found that only a third of voters in the district view the president favorably and just 28 percent support the health care reform law. Other Democrats were similarly unpopular: Sen. Arlen Specter had a 28 percent favorability rating and term-limited Gov. Ed Rendell scored just 24 percent on that scale.
PPP pollster Dean Debnam had a dire prognosis for Democrats in the district: "It's going to be somewhat amazing if Mark Critz wins this race given the way voters in his district feel about Barack Obama."
Republican Senate candidate Pat Toomey leads Specter by 10 points in the district, according to the poll.

Here is a Spotlight on Tim Burns:
We all need to contribute to the money bomb even if it’s just 5$. He needs a bigger margin, especially in PA, to beat the fraud.
There are six congressional districts in the Pittsburgh market and this is one of the six. Critz is buying a lot of television advertising claiming that Burns wants to impose a 23% national sales tax on everything, including food. He’s also claiming he’s pro-life, pro-gun and against ObamaCare. It is almost comical how a guy who was Murtha’s aide for years is trying to run to the right of the GOP candidate.
I think you have to win by 5% to beat the fraud.
When is the money bomb?
It’s a proven winner. There are many Blue Dog Dems in congress now who did exactly that. Burns should run against Murtha’s record. His aide can be successfully tied to it.

Just realized you weren’t on the ping list!
I’m outta the loop on this one. What happened to Bill Russell?
As far as I know Col. Bill Russell is still running too.
ping
Russell was not chosen for the special election. He’s still running in the primary for the November general.
Thanks for the ping!
However, she has not left Burns out completely, she has endorsed him in the PA-12 Special Election!
This link shows all of the conservative candidates nationwide that Mrs. Schlafly has endorsed. It is interesting to see how her endorsements match up with the fine work randita and InterceptPoint have been doing with tracking the Key House Races
Good news.
This statement by Tim Burns has got to be the greatest campaign quote I’ve heard in years:
I dont claim to know how Washington works because I dont believe that it does.
With Murtha’s death, and the current tied, I think an R will finally take the district.
You may be right. The district loved the pork which Murtha brought home, but didn’t care for his voting record. I still think Bill Russell would have come a lot closer to beating him if the NRA had butted out.
