Lawmakers in the Arizona Senate voted 17 to 11 to approve the bill, widely regarded as the toughest measure yet taken by any U.S. state to curb illegal immigration. The state's House of Representatives approved the measure last week. Governor Jan Brewer, a Republican, has five days to veto the bill or sign it into law. Immigration is a bitterly fought issue in the United States, where some 10.8 million illegal immigrants live and work in the shadows, although it has been eclipsed in recent months by a healthcare overhaul and concern over the economy.

Why do Americans have to be taxed to pay for invaders. I hope the AZ signs this and other states follow. I also hope AZ passes the law requiring a BC to be on the ballot.
It seems to conflict with Democrat plans to expand their voting base - and Republican plans to save Social Security.

No, they do not live and work in the shadows...they are in our face and everywhere we look. Many of them are thieves and government-handout leaches. Every one of them need to be checked and if not legal citizens -sent back across the border. BTW, how is Obama’s “illegal” aunt getting along these days?

They are in our faces, not shadows! I’m in Coppell, Texas, a very wealthy small town right outside of Dallas. In my neighborhood we have had illegals come many times around 4-8pm and drive through are allys and steal everything they see. I’ve seen them myself many times and they’ve been busted so many times. I’ve called the cops many times. They actually walked into my neighbors garage and didn’t see him in there. My neighbor asked them what they were doing in his home and they jumped and ran. We can’t leave garages doors open for 5 minutes unsupervised, can’t leave bikes out or any other equipment. We’re sick of it!

10.8 million??? The figure keeps going down, as thousands pour across the border. The press has been using the 12 million figure for 10 years!
I feel your pain. They are everywhere in my area as well and I’m many states away from the border.
Yes, they steal everything they can get their hands on. The local jails are filled to capacity with them for drug, DUI and an endless number of other crimes. They are a huge financial problem for our local government. They also reproduce like rabbits once they get on this side of the border.
You go to most restaurants in my area and almost their entire kitchen staff can’t speak English....I rarely eat out any more because I refuse to have undocumented, illegal aliens preparing my food.
