Family members of those killed or wounded in the shootings at Virginia Tech and Columbine High School signed advertisements running today that called on lawmakers to support closing the gun show loophole.
The advertisements appeared close to the anniversary of both shootings, and as gun rights rallies were set to occur in and around Washington.
In Virginia, a group called Virginians for Public Safety placed an advertisement in The Richmond Times-Dispatch asking that the states two Democratic senators, Jim Webb and Mark Warner, get behind closing the loophole. And the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence sponsored a newspaper ad in two Colorado cities urging Senator Mark Udall, a Democrat, to support ending the policy that allows the purchase of firearms at gun shows without the sort of background checks needed at federally registered gun shops.
Legislation that would subject buyers at gun shows to background checks has roughly 100 sponsors in the House and more than 15 in the Senate, including Colorados other senator, Michael Bennet, also a Democrat.

....ignoramuses....all....
As for Columbine, I thought at least the Tec-9 was bought for the shooters by older kids in a straw-purchase, which is already illegal.
I hate to criticize the victims' families, but since they're trying to steal my liberty, I'm gonna go ahead and call them morons.
No such thing.
The rules at a gun show are the exact same for those in society and at gun shops.
How long before they go after talk radio because of a First Amendment “loophole”?
I really feel for the families of the victims. But their heads are screwed on all wrong — this is like suggesting “we tear the observatory down” to keep meteors fro hitting Earth (a la the Simpsons).
It is because there were NO guns on campus that their loved ones are dead. Just 1 CCW would have ended the rampage and many would be alive today.
These people are letting their grief trump their brains. Just like liberals let emotion trump reason.
Here’s an idea: teach your children to handle a weapon with confidence. And maybe they’ll even ignore stupid campus rules and carry discreetly.
The whole purpose of these idiots who shout “gun show loophole” is to end ALL private sales of firearms, not just at “gun shows.”
These liberals define a “gun show” as two people getting together, one to sell a firearm, one to purchase a firearm.
Even in the privacy of your own home.
That’s their agenda....NO private sales of any kind.
To whom, oh wise and all-knowing wizard?

>>The 2nd amendment does not gurantee gun ownership. Gun ownership should be restricted.<<
You forgot the /sarcasm tag...
There is no such thing as a “gun show loophole”.

looking at your previous posts, I must say that you are either:
a troll,
or you consistently forget your sarcasm tags.
I knew Tom Mauser would be in there somewhere. He’s made a very good living off his son’s death.
Where did this concept come from? Did you forget a /sarc tag or something?
There is no basis for “restricting gun ownership” unless you represent a tyrant who fears the governed. I do agree that the the world is a better place when the government fears the governed rather than the other way around. The Second Amendment wouldn’t have been necessary had governments been trustworthy.
Closing any “loopholes” in laws (or enacting laws of any type for that matter) is not going to solve the underlying cause of Columbine: two very dark, troubled, angry and faithless young men with contempt for their fellow living souls. You cannot solve that problem with legislation, only by changing the culture beginning in the home.
Liberals will never admit this because they are the primary cause for the devolution of our national culture.
