The worst thing about the passage that I have quoted is its apparent endorsement, or uncritical acceptance, of Freuds characterization of the Nazis as right-wing. This seems to me simplistic to the point of dishonesty, or at least symptomatic of a desire that complex social and political realities should be located on an analogue scale from right to left or left to right. If such a scale must be used, it seems to me that there is as much, if not more, reason to place Nazism on the left of it rather than on the right.
Not that this would be satisfactory, far from it. As Bishop Butler said, every thing is what it is and not another thing; Nazism was what it was and not another thing. If it could not, and cannot, be fitted neatly on to a political analogue scale, so much the worse for the scale. To change the figure of speech, we must not construct Procrustean conceptual beds.
Does it matter, however, if Nazism being what it was and not another thing is routinely characterized as being right-wing? I think that it does matter, for the following reason. There is a false syllogism that has a profound psychological effect:
* Nazism was right-wing. * Conservatism is right-wing. * Therefore Nazism was conservative and conservatism is Nazi. ....

No.
correction
he was shouting NAZI when he was protesting Bush and he it should not be a dirty word to use.
I left out the word dirty
Good post #93. I still like Pat Buchanan for his intelligence, analytical ability on some topics, and patriotism, while disagreeing with him for most of the reasons you cited. In fairness, his comments re Hitler were as much analysis as they were praise. Hitler definitely had some talents, albeit put to evil ends. Again I agree with most of what you said in your articulate, if voluminous, post. I sometimes understand, but still don’t like Jewish-Americans’ slavish support for liberal causes, including liberal blacks, when those same libs figuratively spit in their faces for thanks. I happen to be half Jewish but, permit me to say, 100% American.
NAZI were the National Socialist Party of Germany, and as anyone who has ever looked at the political spectrum can tell you, Socialism is on the left hand side of the Political Spectrum.
The right hand side starts with anarchy or no government, and moves progressively to the left, with the government asserting more and more control until you wind up on the far left with totalitarianism.
I am aware of that. I was using ‘conservative’ in the sense we normally think of most of us on this thread. I think of it more in line with my tagline: ‘...steeped in the Constitutional legacy handed down by the Founders’.
“Good post #93.”
Thank you.
“I still like Pat Buchanan for his intelligence, analytical ability on some topics, and patriotism, while disagreeing with him for most of the reasons you cited.”
OK. I don’t like him at all and hope the day comes soon when his ability to hurt others is gone.
“In fairness, his comments re Hitler were as much analysis as they were praise. Hitler definitely had some talents, albeit put to evil ends. Again I agree with most of what you said in your articulate, if voluminous, post.”
Fair enough. Did Pat ever see talent or praise anyone who was or is Jewish? If not, why not? Is only a Hitler worthy of praise?
“I sometimes understand, but still dont like Jewish-Americans slavish support for liberal causes, including liberal blacks, when those same libs figuratively spit in their faces for thanks. I happen to be half Jewish but, permit me to say, 100% American.”
I happen to be all Jewish and 100% American. I don’t like anyone supporting liberal causes and am pained by those “Jews” who are so against their faith. But there’s nothing I can do about that.
If I were to start praising Jews for their myriad positive accomplishments, including a dedication to conservatism, I could quickly compose a list that would overflow this page. I can't resist mentioning a few: The German/Jewish poet Heinrich Heine; the German/Jewish mathematician, Albert Einstein; The Israeli/Jewish/American violin virtuoso, Itzak Perlman; composer/conductor Leonard Bernstein; Broadway giants Rogers & Hammerstein; the great Classical composer Phillip Mendelssohn/Bartoldy; doctor and scientist. Jonas Salk...The list could go on and on in almost every field, especially science and the arts. I said I would mention only a few, and so I have; but with difficulty, because in listing those, so many more come to mind. IMO, natural selection has forced Jews to excel.
I commend you for swimming against the stream. Although outnumbered, you are far from being alone.
