As far as were concerned, U.S. Rep. Gresham Barrett is a substance-less, cliche-spouting, status quo-supporting hypocrite who is literally a seer sucker suit and pair of white bucks away from being the redneck version of Al Pacino in The Devils Advocate.
Sure, he has a 98.whatever rating from a bunch of Washington D.C.-based taxpayer groups, but where was Barrett when the taxpayers really needed him?
Flip-flopping, thats where
On top of that, his so-called jobs plan is nothing but a bunch of big government malarkey and he cant quit telling us how much he loves Jesus all the time (which is great, but not a prerequisite for taking care of our states finances the last time we checked).
By now, many expected that Barrett would have emerged as a front-runner in the race for the 2010 GOP gubernatorial nomination. Instead, hes currently battling S.C. Rep. Nikki Haley for third-place and only recently deciding to start training his fire on front-runner Henry McMaster, a major tactical mistake.
So whats the deal?
And sure, we get the fact that Barrett has plenty of cash in his bank account to make his case to South Carolina voters over the next 50 days, but so do McMaster and S.C. Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer. In fact, each of the top three GOP campaigns has roughly $1.5 million to spend between now and June 8 (with Barrett having blown through more cash so far than all of his rivals combined).
Not to put too fine a point on it, but one reason Barretts campaign may be struggling to live up to its potential is the lack of faith voters have in lawmakers who supported taxpayer-funded bailouts.
In fact, according to a new Rasmussen Reports poll, 57 percent of American voters place more trust in the judgment of a member of Congress who voted against bailouts. Comparatively, only 21 percent of American voters place more trust in the judgment of a member of Congress who voted in favor of bailouts.
Twenty-two percent are undecided.
Our guess is that these numbers are even more pronounced among GOP primary voters in South Carolina
Agree. Barret is strongly supported by the Chamber of Commerce, which reeks of pro illegal aliens.
I tried so hard to get through on the phone so that I could say "Listen, you Asshat, I couldn't care less what Glenn Beck was in favor of. You don't represent Glenn Beck, you represent ME! And I'm the guy with only a high school education who works his butt off every single day who emailed you repeatedly prior to the vote imploring you to vote against the TARP, because even a dummy like me could see that it was a HUGE mistake. I am also the dummy who emailed and wrote to you after the vote, that you repeatedly answered by letting me know how much more you knew about it than little ol' me. Don't waste your time asking for my vote... I'd rather cast my ballot for someone who is honest about being a liberal than a fake conservative."
I couldn't get through, though. May he or one of his strap-hangers will read it here.
Bob McClain show? I shook his hand at the Tea Party.
I’m already on that Falcon, but thanks for the link. See my profile.
