Well written hit piece. Interesting that he should start out with a Jefferson quote to launch his attack on Sarah’s “inexperience.” Now let’s see ... exactly how much experience did Old Tom have in running a government.
Hillyer, like most who consider themselves bastions of the literati just don’t seem to get it: we don’t want anymore “leaders” who are experienced in “making government work.” We want “inexperienced” citizen administrators/legislators who will make government sit down, shut up, stop picking our pockets, and start adhering to a strict interpretation of the Constitution.
My dream is that we will one day return to the day when the answer to the question, “Who’s the President now?” will be, “Hold on a second, let me think.”
You nailed it.
These Palin bashers who scream that Palin isn’t experienced enough show their utter lack of understanding of the Founder’s intent: They didn’t want a professional (”experienced”) political class. They wanted citizen-leaders.
But hey, let’s ditch the “inexperienced” /barf Palin for another life-long DC or Party insider. After all, that’s worked so well!
Quite a dream: The end of Presidential personality cults and overweening executive power.
Perchance you refer to the Patrick Henry citation?
And for the record, "Old Tom", prior to being elected our third President, served as Vice President, Sec of State, Governor of Virginia; Delegate to the Virginia Assembly.
State your case, for or against Mr Hillyer's article, but try to be a little less ignorant in going about it.
If you think that's Jefferson's line, or that Jefferson wasn't qualified for the office when he was elected (or that Palin is somehow commensurately qualified as Jefferson), I can see why you're sated by her credentials, just saying.
