Bill Clinton: Appoint Non-Judge to High Court
Wall Street Journal ^ | April 18, 2010 | Laura Meckler

Former President Bill Clinton urged President Barack Obama to consider appointing someone to the Supreme Court who comes from political life, but said both he and his wife, the secretary of state, were too old for the job.

Several senators have also urged the White House to look at candidates outside the judiciary to replace retiring Justice John Paul Stevens. Political figures used to be well represented on the high court, but all nine justices serving now came from the federal appeals bench. Nominees from such a background are seen as easier to confirm and as more predictable once they get there.

“I hope he’ll take a look at somebody who hasn’t been a judge,” Clinton said on ABC’s “This Week.” “Some of the best justices in the Supreme Court in history have been non-judges, people that — as [former justice] Hugo Black once famously said, had been sheriffs and county judges, people that have seen how the lofty decisions of the Supreme Court affect the ordinary lives of Americans.”

Obama’s list of contenders includes a few non-judges. Elena Kagan, the solicitor general and former dean of Harvard Law School, is seen as a top possibility. Other non-judges on the list include Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, a former Arizona governor

A 63 year old and a 62 year old are too old to replace a 90 year old Justice?

Let me get this straight. Appoint a politician to the one body of government that’s supposed to protect us from politicians? You gotta love these fascists.

Ninety-nine percent of the Justices’ work is corporate law that a non-lawyer would find incomprehensible. A non-lawyer simply cannot do the job. Unfortunately, the “Constitutional” cases are the ones by which the Court has seized legislative power, and have destroyed the Constitution.

He didn’t say non-lawyer, he said non-judge.

In the end though what do the corporate cases come down to...dollar and cents? violations of the commerce clause? EPA law? Trade and treaty issues? It seems to me that a tough questioning layman can force some of these glib high toned lawyers to actually explain in plain english just how Americans are being fleeced and their wallets high tech lynched...with out all the silver tongued gobbledeegook!

Plain yes or no, “is is”, language. Government in this country was supposed to be simpler and its laws fairly easy to grasp and understand and any laws that are filled with addendums, ibids, see page 1136’s, and quid pro quo’s to be in affect only on alternate Tuesdays are laws that one knows are giving all Americans legal wedgies!

I noted how Bill was speaking for his wife as well as for himself as to “being too old” for the job. I’ll bet that doesn’t go down well on the home front!

Tom Sowell might be available. He has never been a judge - or a lawyer.
