Liberals are all too often eager to charge conservative personalities of using hyperbole to gain a political advantage, especially when it contradicts their world view - whether it's suggesting the Obama administration is taking the country down the path of socialism, fascism or any other -ism.
However, it could be argued there's a different set of standards for those same people when they want to make strong charges. On NBC's April 18 "The Chris Matthews Show," Time columnist Joe Klein all but accused former GOP vice-presidential nominee and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, along with Fox News host Glenn Beck of sedition.
"I did a little bit of research just before this show - it's on this little napkin here. I looked up the definition of sedition which is conduct or language inciting rebellion against the authority of the state. And a lot of these statements, especially the ones coming from people like Glenn Beck and to a certain extent Sarah Palin, rub right up close to being seditious."

This is what Bill Clinton is trying to rile up too. Several links on Drudge related to Clinton. He says ‘Words Matter’ and warning about ‘angry people’. He has ranted at Rush too.

Oh ... I plan on doing something much more scary to them than “sedition”. I plan on casting my vote against the statist oligarchy in November! :)
Conservatives have shaken the democrats to their core. They’re desperate and dangerous but they’re also losing.
Now we know that they want to permanently eliminate us from the political arena its time to stop playing nice. We need clean conservatives in office so the criminals like Frank, Dodd, Rangel and others can go to federal prisons to live out their days.
Demanding our government return to a more constitutional way of doing business, spending less, taxing less, respecting states rights. These “demands” are seditious? WTF are these people smoking?
If they want to look into people trying to usurp the American way of life they need only look at Congress and the POTUS.
This asshole needs to be ignored....
Sedition? Oh C’mon, Joe! That’s so “eighteenth century”. (this is what liberals would say if the shoe were on the other foot).
Joe Klein needs to get back on his meds. He’s becoming increasingly unhinged and needs professional mental help.
I still don’t understand WHY these guys like Obama so much. Seriously, I mean, okay they share his ideology which I suppose is reason enough...but they almost seem under a spell or like they’re being threatened to write this crap.
To borrow another FReepers words:
Thank God for Sarah Palin.
Not just Wright. Ayers, half or more of his czars and cabinet as well as his pledge to fundamentally “change” the United States. The only way to do that would be to throw out the Constitution.
Besides, laws against sedition were thrown out during John Adam’s term.
For every one conservative he can point a lying finger at there are a thousand demcrats who really have or are plotting seditious acts.
I don’t believe it’s possible to be seditious against people who’ve already committed treason.
Oh, for the good old days of “Bush lied people died” civility :-(
"Let me be precise here: Fox News peddles a fair amount of hateful crap. Some of it borders on sedition. Much of it is flat out untrue."
Joe Klein was invited on The Factor to back up his charges but declined.
And he is certainly too intimidated to go face-to-face with Sean Hannity whom he called a thug or with Glenn Beck whom he called a weirdo.
******
Joe Klein lied, denying authoring the book "Primary Colors. Klein denied authorship again in Newsweek, speculating that another writer wrote it. Washington Post Style editor David von Drehle, in an interview, asked Klein if he was willing to stake his journalistic credibility on his denial, to which Klein agreed.
On July 17, 1996, Klein admitted that the speculation had been correct.
Klein = “little” in German/Yiddish. Klein is indeed a little weasel. Sedition has long ago been de-criminalized. Even advocating violent overthrow of the government is almost never prosecuted. Notwithstanding, the Declaration of Independence outlines the right to dispense with tyranny. Add Klein to the growing list of propagandists who make a living smearing patriots like Beck and Palin.
.
Let us all recall that Joanie Klein wrote pro-Clinton books under “anonymous” - and denied he wrote them
I would venture that all sorts of underground flowed into his pockets and offshore alias accounts
There is nothing “nice” about the methods or agendas of the radical left and their people
The other day Obama was telling his own thugs how much they have cut taxes for 95% of Americans - all while he is pushing through huge tax and fee increases that hit all income - or - no income levels
How will those under the poverty level be exempt from huge VAT taxes?
Will they invent a “Tax-Exempt ID Card” for them and for illegal aliens?
More appropriately, "it's on this little square of charmin here"
Time is seditious for a living
[Will they invent a Tax-Exempt ID Card for them and for illegal aliens?]
That’s something they well may do, I wouldn’t doubt it.
They rebutted Obama’s talk about all his tax cuts on Fox News the other day after Obama’s speech. Told about all of his increases that people don’t notice - yet.
