Mark Schauer's earmarks exceeded $55 million.Aware of the national backlash against runaway federal spending, U.S. Rep. Mark Schauer said earmarks he recently requested are aimed at strengthening the local economy.
Schauer submitted 42 earmark requests for 2011, totaling $55.1 million for his district, with about $8 million slated for 10 projects in Jackson County.

Last year, Schauer submitted 41 earmarks, totaling more than $80 million; about $33 million was approved. Of eight earmark requests Schauer made last year for projects in Jackson County, two were approved, and both for substantially less than the amount requested.
Schauer said that since he has been through the process and knows how subcommittees evaluate projects, he feels these earmarks are more targeted and will fare better.
For instance, last year, Schauer submitted a $2.4 million earmark for environmental restoration work at Sparks Foundation County Park as part of the $30 million Cascades renovation project, but no funds were allotted.
(SNIPPED) One of Schauer's top priorities with earmarks this year, he said, is the $1.5 million the city of Jackson wants to demolish the old Consumers Energy headquarters downtown.
"It's clear that would be a catalytic project for downtown Jackson," Schauer said. "That would be transformative."

A request for $500,000 would aid Spring Arbor University in purchasing a backup generator for its fieldhouse. That location is identified by the Jackson County Sheriff's Office as one of five disaster relief sites in the county, said Thomas Fiero, director of campus safety for the university.

Hey, at least YOUR CongressRAT publicizes his. Ours won’t even do that, the lying hag.
The sad thing is that the Jackson Cit Pat refused to endorse Tim Walberg last time because he didn’t bring in enough federal money for their liking.
The SOB would be in prison for about 20 years if he wasn’t a politician.
He doesn't talk about the number of jobs lost by his policies.
You know where I stand on this one.

Any of you red staters want to help out a front running blue state conservative, feel free to toss a few bucks to Walberg. He’s pro life, pro 2nd amendment, pro domestic oil drilling, anti amnesty, and anti big government. In his 14 years in the Michigan legislature he never once voted for a new tax or tax increase making him a founding member of the “NO” caucus.
We’re at better than 16% unemployment in Jackson county now. I suspect the actual number is closer to 25%.
We can’t afford any more of Golden Schauer’s help.
