One of the things journalism teaches you over and over again is that nothing ruins a good story quite like the facts.
Consider, for example, this week's renewal of the chattering classes' infatuation with the "tea party" movement, timed to coincide with the deadline to file federal income tax returns. The group is conventionally portrayed as a burgeoning populist expression of discontent that sprouted spontaneously from the grass-roots and cuts in new ways across sectional, class and gender lines.
Reams of analysis have proceeded from those assumptions, but like a great deal that's based on anecdotal reporting, it turns out to be wrong. To their great credit, the New York Times and CBS undertook extensive, and expensive, polling that provides the first reliable look at the tea party supporters. Little that has been generally assumed survived the scrutiny.
As it turns out, fewer than 1 in 5 Americans "supports" the tea party movement in any respect, and just 4% of all adult Americans have contributed to it or attended one of its events or both. (On any given day, you probably could drum up twice as many people who think the Pentagon is hiding dead aliens in Area 51.)(continued)

I’m not sure about that alphabetical order, but I do agree that the MSM, CDC and others continally shouting “RACIST” is rediculous and I’m hoping that even the most PC-oriented among us, if they were honest, might be losing the energy and tempo in their psycho-physical jerk of the knee.
“psycho-physical jerk of the knee”
Great phrase!
A Harley biker is riding by the zoo in Washington , DC when he sees a little girl leaning into the lion's cage.
Suddenly, the lion grabs her by the cuff of her jacket and tries to pull her inside to slaughter her, under the eyes of her screaming parents.
The biker jumps off his Harley, runs to the cage and hits the lion square on the nose with a powerful punch.
Whimpering from the pain the lion jumps back letting go of the girl, and the biker brings her to her terrified parents, who thank him endlessly. A reporter has watched the whole event.
The reporter addressing the Harley rider says, 'Sir, this was the most gallant and brave thing I've seen a man do in my whole life.'
The Harley rider replies, 'Why, it was nothing, really, the lion was behind bars. I just saw this little kid in danger and acted as I felt right.'
The reporter says, 'Well, I'll make sure this won't go unnoticed. I'm a journalist, you know, and tomorrow's paper will have this story on the front page... So, what do you do for a living and what political affiliation do you have?'
The biker replies, 'I'm a U.S. Marine and a Republican.' The journalist leaves.
The following morning the biker buys the paper to see if it indeed brings news of his actions, and reads, on the front page:
U.S. MARINE ASSAULTS AFRICAN IMMIGRANT AND STEALS HIS LUNCH
That pretty much sums up the media's approach to the news these days.
Anyone who gets his “information” from the LA Times is in danger of being an ignoramus.
Very good!
Just to add some diversity they surveyed a high school teachers’ rubber room.
“... keep trying to find video or signs or audio while you are at it, then argue about WHy there are none.”
I’m waiting for the “dog ate my homework” excuse.
Since the lamestream media has changed its tack from calling the teaparty a bunch of lower class uneducated yokels to one of “affluent and better educated”, I suspect that instead of the race card they may be going for the class warfare card.
Yup...shuck and Jive...that’s the Bamster’s motto!
awesome!
this little Munchkin will strike terror into the heart of Janet Napolitano!
Guess CBS Moues is going to have to get rid of Bob Schieffer, who seemed to think 18% of the electorate (and growing) was a pretty big deal instead. Bob, call your office -- Stiletto-Heels Katie says you're fired.
The MSM ignorance is going to bite itself. Let them look like idiots...I have no problem with it.
The tea party should start exercising their buying power clout and start targeting boycotts against those that advertise with the MSM. It can make a difference.
gOOD IDEA!
A claim that is in direct contradiction with the poll that showed 24% of Americans identified themselves a Tea Partiers...which is much higher than 20% supporting in any respect...but again, facts are nasty little things that just get in the way of a good lie.
Exactly. They can't keep their spin straight.
Didn't Nixon also speak of "the silent majority"? Except in this case, the people represented by the "Tea Party" are not so silent, or invisible.
Sure they are. Especially the media lackeys, because waking up involves figuring out just how much and how often they have lied to you.
