NBC is terrible with the Olympics. I loath their “up close and personal” stories. I've read they do this because they think this is what female viewers want. I used to watch the Olympics from opening ceremonies to closing but no more. I want to cheer for Americans, not “citizen of the world” types.
I especially wanted to see men's ice hockey (not homosexual figure skating) which was relegated to the sub-channels. Fortunately our cable company added those in HD right before the games. Even though ice hockey was one of the most anticipated events, they showed men's and women's CURLING in it's entirety even when it's time overlapped the hockey. I can't understand the depth of stupidity that went into that decision.

That is why NBC had so much ice dancing, while hockey was pushed to MSNBC and CNBC.
That is, until the viewership of the hockey games was so much higher than NBC's ice dancing. Then, they pulled the hockey finals back to NBC.
[One would think that, after years of losing money on women's basketball, NBC would have learned a valuable lesson.]

I expected to watch a lot of events but every time I tuned in the first few days there was so much crap that I changed the channel..... then I hardly watched any of it...... I imagine they lost millions of casual sports fans like me who didn’t study the TV schedules, yet wanted to watch some great sporting events, then got sick of trying to wade through the nonsense and gave up.
oh, and CURLING is not a sport!!! I’d just as soon watch geriatric shuffleboard on a cruise ship.... actually, the latter is more exciting.
