WASHINGTON - The most influential national tea party group, backed by a $3 million campaign war chest, surprised Idahoans by endorsing freshman Rep. Walt Minnick's re-election bid. Not all local tea partyers were pleased.
Minnick is the only Democrat in the nation to land an endorsement from the Tea Party Express, the most prominent national organization in the burgeoning political movement.

"We don't know where the national tea party came up with the endorsement of Walt Minnick," said Russ Smerz of Tea Party Boise. "It's a little concerning to us that Tea Party Express would endorse someone in the state of Idaho without consulting us first. We're not endorsing any candidate at this time - including Walt Minnick."

Did he vote Pelosi for speaker? If so he’s the devil......
You beat me to the punch.
Damn straight!
A vote for Pelousy should disqualify a Tea Party endorsement.
Any Rat is a bad Rat..another vote for Pelosi. The only way we get rid of Pelosi getting rid of Rats..kinda like Rats and Fleas. Parasites..
As I have said the Tea Party Movement needs to be copywrited.
is walt minnick a small government guy? If not, tea party express could be a democrat plant
I didn’t vote for him, but we could have done a lot worse.
Tea Party Express is drunk with power.
Always.
The Tea Party must have had a politically correct moment.
If this is true, and if the National Tea Party leaders really endorsed him, then those particular leaders must be removed, pronto.
WE DO NOT ENDORSE NARAL CANDIDATES. PERIOD
He’s been fairly good for a Democrat imo. VERY outspoken against earmarks. I didn’t vote for him, voted for Sali again, but I can think of worse in Idaho including some from the GOP.
There is a national Tea Party?
Article is talking about the Tea Party Express.
The first report is almost always wrong...standby.
Our previous rep. and Minnock’s opponent (Bill Sali) voted against Bush’s first bailout program both times. Somehow I can’t see any democrat doing that.
So who should have he voted for to be Speaker of the House?
I think Pelosie was a GREAT choice, the person Republicans would chose if they were given the choice of any Dem.
She’s been a disaster. Great choice.
I don’t buy this. Exactly what Tea Party are they referring to?
My thoughts exactly. If it sounds crazy it usually is.
I watched his votes his first half year or so in congress and he was somebody that Nancy could count on. I think they messed up on this endorsement basing it on his ZeroCare vote.
