Four out of five veterans from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan think the U.S. would be more secure if the nation were weaned off foreign oil, according to the results of a poll released Tuesday.
The study, conducted by Lake Research Partners in February, also found that 64 percent of the surveyed veterans believe U.S. dependence on foreign energy endangers the lives of our troops by helping funnel money to hostile forces in oil-producing regions.
The survey was commissioned by VoteVets.org, a group that has backed work in Congress to pass broad energy and climate change legislation. It comes as a group of senators try to finish writing a new version of the bill that promotes domestic oil and gas production and nuclear power as well as caps on greenhouse gases blamed for global warming.

So if you hear this Vet's ad for Green energy, it's Soros. I'm sure this isn't news to many, but it was to me.

To say we need to wean off of foreign oil is NOT the same thing as saying we need “Green energy.”
I think we need to wean off Middle East oil, but I think it should be by DRILLING OUR OWN OIL!!
So the organization is twisting the poll IMO.
It doesn’t mean they don’t want us to drill for our own oil and gas.
Mostly they’ve been duped by the left.
But they have fallen for the false dichotomy that we either rely on foreign oil or find alternate energy sources. They haven't thought about tapping into the oil resources that are abundant in the US.
Our enemies will not allow us to go to them indefinitely for our oil. That's common sense to many of us. Vets KNOW through dealing with enemies that our days are numbered in buying THEIR oil.

I wasn’t of the impression that the energy bill contains a material “drill here drill now” provision or that as much as 80% of our veterans have any expertise in generating reliable kilowattage from pinwheels.
Then again, there’s so much to read these days and I find it pretty difficult to keep up with most reliable sources of information that I generally don’t get around to the Houston newspapers all that much.

This is bull. Don't buy it. The Demoncrats do NOT want to drill for oil - they ALWAYS phrase this as FUTURE PLANS after studying it. Heck we have studied it to death already and KNOW where our OIL is in THIS country.
Nuclear power is still wrongly viewed as being a form of a nuclear bomb - which it isn't. Three Mile Island will come up and people will fall for the disinformation.
Ah,”caps on greenhouse gases blamed for global warming” - this is what they WANT and will DO if PASSED. Cap and trade will further KILL business. There is NO EVIDENCE that “greenhouse gases” contribute to gloBULL warming. It's another socialistic money grab to redistribute wealth and punish capitalists. They are teasing people by letting them believe they will become energy independent when they have NO INTENTION of doing that - it's a sneaky way to bundle Cap and Trade with something people WANT - energy independence but will not get.
For example, I read elsewhere that an area in Alaska will be "studied" for oil drilling. Of course it has already been determined that their target HAS NO OIL. Where we KNOW there is oil, is OFF LIMITS for drilling. So it will be another colossal waste of time and money and another useless expensive study. The taxpayers will be screwed again.
They most certainly are putting words in ALL Vets mouths. I recently returned from Iraq and was over by the local University when I saw a bunch of these weenies handing out fliers. I asked them what was up and observed that none of them were combat vets. I asked about domestic drilling and they said that green energy was superior because it will ensure our independence from foreign oil. These idiots are nothing more than enviro-crazies parading in a fashion that will manipulate uninformed people that Vets oppose any kind of fossil fuel use.
This is NOT about a plentiful supply of energy entirely controlled by the US for national defense and reduce risk to the military in defending foreign oil.
It is about squandering tax dollars on alternative energy schemes that won't deliver and will destroy the US economy and national defense.
But, don't worry, a few elite leftists will get enormously wealthy, so it's all ok.
How many of these “Vets” are REAL front-line troops or how many of them are REMFs?
Write your local paper and CORRECT them.
It's awful how they are LYING and twisting words to fit their LEFTIST agenda.
