It could make a great platform to run for POTUS from, although only 1 term as Speaker might not be enough or it could be too much pending on what the status of things is in 2012.

I think that he might have to forgo a run for President in 2012 if he became the Speaker. There is a good argument to be made that the Speaker has more influence over domestic policy, especially spending.

Again, we're making assumptions that there will be elections in 2010 and 2012 and there's no guarantee of either. And I was ‘tin foil hat-ted’ for mentioning it over a year ago.
