Mitt Romney on Health Care: A Particular Spin (Romney takes credit for Obamacare)
The New York Times ^ | April 9, 2010 | Kevin Sack

The core of his argument is a federalist assertion that the new law usurps powers that properly reside with the states.

"Whether you like what we did or think it stinks to high heaven," he said of the Massachusetts plan in a speech here on Thursday, "the point is we solved it at our level."

He then compared the two plans: "I like the things that are similar, I don't like the things that are different, and that's why I vehemently oppose Obamacare."

(snip)In response, Mr. Romney is reminding audiences that Mr. Obama has cast the Republicans as the “party of no,” devoid of ideas. “And yet,” Mr. Romney said in Bedford, “he’s saying that I was the guy that came up with the idea for what he did. He can’t have it both ways.”

He added, “If ever again somewhere down the road I would be debating him, I would be happy to take credit for his accomplishment.”

(snip)

Each and every day this RINO adds another brick in the wall.

Please, please, Repubs - Do NOT nominate this clown. If I want a gutless, clueless do nothing who knows nothing of economics, I’ll just vote for the Obamaloon.

Mitt Romney is the Democrats’ favorite Republican, having replaced McCain. Don’t let the Democrats choose our candidates for us.

If you think it stinks to high heaven, then you probably don’t think it solved anything, Mitt.

And this asshole thinks he has presidential aspirations as a Republican? Man, those Mormons certainly drink a lot of kool-aid. Remind me, he is a Republican why?

RE: “Hanging another Romney Pinata thread out for the bashers to get some finger exercise.”

This forum is all about advocating for conservatism and outing and trashing liberalism.

This thread is certainly consistent with the purpose of the forum. If you have a problem with that, take it up with the management, or just move on to DU or DailyKOS where you might be more comfortable.

Romney, like Reid and the younger generation of mormons have taken a hard political left. Hopefully the Glenn Beck generation realize their churhc is not being “led by God in every step”, and stay the patriotic course laid out by Ezra Taft Benson...Of course they will have to leave the church to do that.

Baloney.

A couple of liberal politicians hardly justifies painting a whole generation with their stripes.

I’m sorry, but I truly beieve the Iowa Straw Poll that had this RINO winning was stuffed with bogus votes!

This guy hasn’t got a snowballs chance to ever be our president! Look how McCain royally screwed it up!

These RINO’s need to be driven from the GOP. They are a cancer to our party!

Considering the vote numbers these two get from lds, makes me wonder if they are as conservative as they would have us believe.

You won't find a more conservative Reagan fanatic than me. I tire easily of the folks who live only to bash and not improve.

Name calling is the weapon of the illiterate.

Backstabbing, carpetbagging, vote-buying Mitt Romney:
” Now that my Romneycare (funded 50% by US taxpayers) is national, ready to hurt
three hundred million, a little self examination is in order for you Republicans.
You may want to ask yourself “if I had spent my time promoting
RomneyCare and Mitt Romney, could not I have garnered more support
of both Mr. Obama and the magnificent Gov. Mitt Romney?

“Romney praises Obama again
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney praised President Obama
at a GOP fundraising dinner Wednesday ..
"I also think it's important for us to nod to the president when he's right," Romney said....
Romney, who spoke at a dinner for the National Republican Senatorial Committee,
said he's pleased with the president's plans to "finish the job" in Iraq and Afghanistan
-- lines that drew applause from the partisan audience. He also applauded the president
for standing up to the auto industry.
"I hope he continues to be tough ....The former businessman even offered faint praise for
Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, saying that after a series of initial missteps,
"I think he's finally getting close to the right answer."
