America is Back!, Newsweek declares this week.
Cover-story author Daniel Gross says the economy is making a strong comeback, defying the odds and surprising the naysayers. "The turnaround we've had since [Lehman Brothers' bankruptcy], while not completely satisfying, has been pretty remarkable," he tells Henry Blodget in the accompanying clip.
A combination of unprecedented government intervention matched by rapid restructuring and increased productivity in the private sector has resulted in an economy stronger than anyone would have imagined just 18 months ago, Gross argues. Although the National Bureau of Economic Research - the official tracker of recessions - continues to wait to officially declare its end, Gross dismisses their hesitation, saying economic forecasters "have consistently underestimated the rate of economic growth."
Gross points to several factors to back his case:

And that whole unenployment thing?
Newsweak is just cheerleading for their butt-boy again. It’s disgusting.
Beck showed on his program yesterday, in this same drooling issue, an article on “right wing hate”. Yep....unbiased. Right. Check.
Jobs still fleeing overseas in our neck of the woods.
The US lost 30,000 more jobs in March if you subtract census workers.
Yep, we’re back.
And this year’s wheat production is 110% of quota, while corn is at 122% of quota.
I’ve subscribed to Newsweek since college. And that’s some decades. It’s just a habit linking me with my youth. But my husband has put his foot down. I just re-subscribed for two more years and he wants me to call and cancel it. He doesn’t want it in the house. He gets upset every week when he looks at the cover. And he’s the Democrat in the family. I’d like to subscribe to The Economist, but it’s just too expensive for me.
Does Newsweek still do the Periscope column? I used to think that was spot on - whatever they reported the exact opposite would prove true. :-))
Those companies that took write-offs this quarter will definitely be heading elsewhere with their manufacturing plants. Why stay in BarryLand?
How can America “come back”? According to the MSM America was in recession the whole eight years of the Bush administration.
America is back, back from where? We are still living under a form of communism and are president would like to tax you out of your home and bring on BIG government. I am out of a job so how is America back?
Can you imagine these people saying this if this was happening on President Bush's watch?!
Business Week is saying the same thing. I think they are trying to convince voters it's not as bad as they think which is a LIE! IMO, it's worse than we think!
Just Say NO To Drugs!
Private sector employment has gone DOWN in 17 of the last 18 months...
barely a blip of a turnaround and we are still way below where we were job-wise.
The recession may be over, but its hardly noticable to most.
This is called "whistling through the graveyard".
But in the case of our current economy, the ghouls actually DO exist and they are coming.
It’s all those millions of new jobs. Haven’t you noticed.
No one saw this coming? What? Back when all hell started breaking loose (End of bush term), economists were saying that, as business cycles go, the economy should be out of recession by September of 2009. So now we are in a recovery, and they are acting like nobody thought we would be here right now? WTF? Its revisionist history I say..
Do you use it to line the litter box? The bird cage?
You need to stay connected to your youth?
Seek help!!!! LOL.......but seriously, why would financially support an enterprise dedicated to the demise of the USA?
recovery... flushed korans... lying liars lying their lies.
LLS
Suddenly, a whole bunch of articles saying how the economy has turned around, and happy days are upon us. If they work it right, enough of the sheeple will believe them, and the self-fulfilling prophecy will take hold.
I really don’t need help, at least not that kind-LOL, but I tend to cling to things. I don’t change easily. But I have agreed not to ever renew it. I really want The Economist. Maybe I’ll ask for it as a Christmas present.
