Pit maverick Republican Congressman Ron Paul against President Obama in a hypothetical 2012 election match-up, and the race is – virtually dead even.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of likely voters finds Obama with 42% support and Paul with 41% of the vote. Eleven percent (11%) prefer some other candidate, and six percent (6%) are undecided.
I googled the source of that photo. Thanks for posting, I suppose, but like most of this thread everyone seems to assume the worst about Paul without support or supporting information.

Which is a photo taken at a debate. No reason to think Paul knew who they were at all at least that I see.

This was at the reception after the Value Voter’s Summit, a private, and very small reception where only those invited by a candidate could get in.. it is still a mystery how Don Black and his kid got tickets. If it were just one pic, that would be one thing, but it is a piece of a larger puzzle where all the pieces point to the same thing... from his continued association with people like Lew Rockwell to his quasi-racist and conspiratorial writings in the 80s and 90s, to statements by former staffers who left because of the ‘level of anti-Semitism’- it all shows that if Paul isn’t on the mindset it appears, he sure has a piss poor level of judgment. There are also some of us who still remember the fundraising scandal he and Lewellen were caught up in during the 88 Presdential campaign.. there is a reason why he only courts Libertarians now, but actually has no direct party affiliation with them any more.
And, as I said, Mussonlini’s statement isn’t accurate in regards to economic theory or history. It is another one of those quotations very commonly misued like Ike’s ‘military industrial complex’ statement. However, even if you took it on grade-school level face value, it still shows Paul was wrong as what we are seeing here in no way is a ‘merger of State and corporate power’, it is a socialistic take over and elimination of the corproate by the State- aka, socialism.

I think you know about corporatism or seem to from your post. I’ve been aware of it since a college course on fascist economics. I think Paul hit the nail with his head on this one.
Ok. We disagree. I think the profit motive will be there i the system Obama is creating for the big enterprises that are state favored and work with the state . . . profits will be private, losses will be corporate for the state favored enterprises. They are already with the Banks making bad business decisions, charging us (the people) overly high interest on credit cards etc., but when they screw up on the mortgages the government bails them out with our tax dollars . . . and the bankers keep making fortunes! It’s a corporatist system.
The stuff you write about Mussolini is off base. Corporatism was fascist economics. No two ways about it. To the extent fascist economic theory was developed it was corporatism.
Is the hate level for Paul internecine Libertarian fighting from way back? I’ve noticed that a group of 5 Libertarians will fight with each other tooth and nail and create 3 splinter groups in a single evening.
