Dow Theorist Richard Russell Predicts Israel Strike On Iran Nuclear Facilities

This has been a concern for world markets for awhile, and now the famous Richard Russell of the Dow Theory Letters chimes in.

Here's what he wrote yesterday:

Russell is thinking -- The US has always played "big Brother" to Israel. But lately the two have had arguments and it's clear that the US has pulled away from Israel. It occurs to me that Israel is planning to attack Iran and destroy its nuclear facilities.
If so, the US does not want to be connected or involved with any attack on Iran and the Muslim world. I find it hard to believe that Israel will sit tight as Iran develops full nuclear capabilities.
Iran's crazy leader has already sworn to wipe Israel off the face of the map. Israel is dealing with Ahmadinejad, who is a lying mad-man. Jews had their fill of madmen with Hitler, and I'm thinking Israelis no longer trust anti-Semitic madmen ("never again"). My bet -- Israel attacks Iran while the US plays "Gee, what's happening?"

2. Yesterday Israel issued an unusually stern warning to citizens to come home NOW. (Yes, it was directed at Sianai-bound tourists and warned of imminent terrorist plots. A thin veil may cover much.)

I think you're dead wrong this time. Israel knows full well--and apparently they're the only ones who accept this truth--that Ahmadinejad is not pursuing nukes to increase his stature (no pun intended). They know he's pursuing them to use them. They're not gonna wait for that to happen. That little nutjob is an existential threat to the state of Israel. He fervently believes he's been chosen by Allah to pave the way for the 12th Imam, and that the way to do that is to annihilate Christians and Jews. Israel won't knowingly sit back and let him get the bomb.

And hey, on the chance he does get the bomb, I don't know that he wouldn't use it on us first. Fire a missile off a container ship (as they've practiced) parked off our coast, detonate the nuke a hundred miles or so above Indianapolis, and 75% of our country instantly goes back to 19th-century technology. We would lose tens of millions of people by the time the infrastructure could be rebuilt to barest minimums.

Ironically, just had this conversation with a young guy here (about to go into the Air Force BTW). My point is; if Iran is nuke capable, they WILL use it. Strategically an EMP over our heads is the best plan, their next strike would be Israel hoping for the 12th Imam to show up and save their a**. If Iran doesn’t have the bomb yet (but almost) I would expect Israel to strike soon.

Well, I was postulating that Bibi had pressed this issue in WH talks and that this was the real reason for the blow-up that ensued: as we’ve seen repeatedly, Obama has a bad habit of trying to divert attention whenever he’s forced to make a difficult decision.

You seem to be implying that Bibi, knowing he’s dealing with a coward, might elect to send a message too late for Obama to tip off Iran and/or otherwise screw up the operation. “Oh, gosh, Barack, you didn’t get our message? We sent it days ago. Sorry about that. We’ll make sure that the next time, we’ll keep you better informed.”

If so, I believe Israel would be best served by delivering such a message through USPS, as that would be far more likely to be delayed. As a believer in the public option for health care, Obama hardly would be in a position to complain about Israel’s using the unreliable USPS rather than the evil profit-makers UPS or Fed-Ex.

Agreed 100%. As for Obama, I've come to believe he's at the very least a huge Muslim sympathizer, if not a Muslim himself. I think he hates Israel and I think he doesn't care if Iran gets the bomb. I think he's really stupid enough to think his policy of "engagement" (appeasement) of the Muslim world is gonna make them like us. Or heck, maybe he's more radical than we think he is and he's fully on board for the Islamization of the U.S. No matter his motivation, he's IMHO putting us at extreme risk from terrorists AND at even greater risk of a harsh and already-overdue judgment from the Almighty.

Russell is wrong.

Obama is a radical left wing pacifist and wants no war because he thinks the world is beyond war. War is obsolete.

Some Muslims are not opposed to the war. The moderate Sunni Arabs will join with Israel and bring Iran to its religious knees.

The real reason will be to prevent the radical wacko Shiite Iranian Mullahs from capturing Saudi Arabia and controlling Mecca and the Hajj. Control of Mecca and the Hajj by radical clerics means control of Islam. For Iran, Control of the oil is but icing on the cake. The oil is secondary to all of Islam. Isreal is but the means to get the war started.

Israel and oil is peanuts in comparison.

The Chinese tankers promised to Iran will be sacrificed and China will wash its hands of providing gasoline. There tanker was sunk by an unknown force and the risk to others is just too great

The plans involve several nations and were made and agreed to when W was president. The action can proceed with Obama watching.He is pissed because he can’t prevent it.

I don’t know what will be the precipitating event but the message to Obama might come from King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia rather than Bibi.

I think they've restrained themselves a LOT because they wanted to maintain the relationship with us. That's pretty much out the window anyway with Obama. He hates them no matter what they do.
