I woke up this morning to the sound of my alarm clock, which is powered by electricity provided by the public power monopoly that is regulated by the US Department of Energy. I then proceeded to take a shower in clean, drinkable water from the Municipal Water Utility. After that, I watched on of the FCC regulated channels on my TV to see what the National Weather Service of the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration determinded the weather would be like by usinc satellites launced, maintained, designed and built by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. I watched this while eating my breakfast of US Department of Agriculture inspected food and taking my medication that was deemed safe for me to use by the Food and Drug Administration.
At the appropriate time as regulated by the US Congress and kept accurate by the National Institute of Standards and Technology, and the US Naval Observatory, I got into my National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration approved automobile and set out on roads built by local, state and federal Departments of Transportation. I stopped and purchased fuel of a quality level determined by the Environmental Protection Agency using legal tender issued by the Federal Reserve Bank.
After work, I drove my NHTSA car back over the DOT roads, to a house which has not burned down in my absence thanks to state and local building codes, as well as the fire marshall's inspection. In the event that it had been set ablaze, I would expect for the fire department to make themselves present and douse the flames. Upon realizing that this hasn't happened, I also noticed that my residence had also not been plundered of all its valuables thanks to the local police fighting crime in my neighborhood.
I then log onto the internet, which was developed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Administration and post on freerepublic.com and the Fox News Forums about now Socialism in medicine is bad and the government can't do anything right.
The post was worth it just to see your reply.
shoot I missed some
Just think, without all of that government alphabet junk in the way, all of those activities would have cost about half as much.
Aw, thanks!
I remember being outraged when gas went over a dollar. I don’t remember 26 cents, though.
Bonerfied, or whatever this useful idiots name is, is trusting the Fedgov to run everything. Why can’t people see the politicians looting the system to pay off their buddies who in turn donate to their elections? And now our lives (healthcare) are in the hands of these people?
Is there any doubt when it comes down to your cancer treatment or their reelection which will get paid for?
Exactly.
And I’m perfectly happy to let the bureaucrats and busybodies decide how my sewer pipes are laid in the ground and what brand of fire engine sits in the firehouse. In fact, I might go years without thinking of these things, because frankly I could care less about them so long as they meet some basic level of functionality.
But healthcare (and that’s really what the troll is getting at) is different. I DO care about who my doctor is and what procedures he performs on my body and the bodies of the people I love. When it comes to health, I DO want to be the responsible party, the decision maker. I DO want to think about these things and have control over them. Unlike my sewer pipes, I DON’T want the government to handle my healthcare.
These points are of course lost on trolls and liberals because they don’t particularly care about their liberty. They prefer security over liberty. They will accept a lower level of care and will accept having their decisions made for them so long as their healthcare is guaranteed.
It’s that mindset that allows “liberals” to analogize something as personal and individualistic as the very health of your body to something as impersonal and bureaucratic as the public sewer system. That’s how screwed up their appreciation of individual liberty and the proper role of government is.
There are doggone few material things that aren’t amenable to a free market, if not downright libertarian, solution. Granted, only a few die hards believe in private roads with negotiated use, and in unlimited use of public rights of way for various private utilities. And no matter how bad the USPS gets, at least the constitution calls for it. The FDA is a mix of blessing and curse because it often drags its feet on medications that have proven OK for decades in Europe, while jumping the gun then later overreacting on helpful but risky new medicines like Vioxx. Why a national Department of Education was ever needed is beyond me. &c.
Just don’t try to control their bodies and stop them from killing babies. At least they are consistent, the culture of death.
Yep, so true.
It’s my taxes paying for all that bureaucracy, and I really don’t see a need for it.
The locality provides the fire protection. You don’t need no stinkin’ DOT or FHSA approved wheels. Drive what you like to drive.
I expect gasoline would be better and certainly cheaper if the EPA wasn’t involved.
FCC....man don’t get me started.
I think you’d be happy in China.
Now Im’ going to stand back and watch you get ZOTTED...big time.
..so you then admit that this is Socialism.. good troll. you are making progress.. now, time to challenge your stupid assumptions on everything else and have you learn the difference between regulation and control.
It was awesome!
Geoff: “When a troll dies and is zotted, it seems there’s certain Moderators who have the power to bring their thread back to life.”
Mary: “How horrible.”
Geoff: “It’s worse than horrible because the zotted troll has no will of his own. You see them sometimes, walking around with dead eyes, following orders, not knowing what they do, not caring.”
Larry: “You mean like democrats?”
How sweet!!!!!
I love it.
