You know what I did today? [I got Zotted! That's what!]

Posted on 04/13/2010 4:08:14 PM PDT by bonidee

I woke up this morning to the sound of my alarm clock, which is powered by electricity provided by the public power monopoly that is regulated by the US Department of Energy. I then proceeded to take a shower in clean, drinkable water from the Municipal Water Utility. After that, I watched on of the FCC regulated channels on my TV to see what the National Weather Service of the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration determinded the weather would be like by usinc satellites launced, maintained, designed and built by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. I watched this while eating my breakfast of US Department of Agriculture inspected food and taking my medication that was deemed safe for me to use by the Food and Drug Administration.

At the appropriate time as regulated by the US Congress and kept accurate by the National Institute of Standards and Technology, and the US Naval Observatory, I got into my National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration approved automobile and set out on roads built by local, state and federal Departments of Transportation. I stopped and purchased fuel of a quality level determined by the Environmental Protection Agency using legal tender issued by the Federal Reserve Bank.

After work, I drove my NHTSA car back over the DOT roads, to a house which has not burned down in my absence thanks to state and local building codes, as well as the fire marshall's inspection. In the event that it had been set ablaze, I would expect for the fire department to make themselves present and douse the flames. Upon realizing that this hasn't happened, I also noticed that my residence had also not been plundered of all its valuables thanks to the local police fighting crime in my neighborhood.

I then log onto the internet, which was developed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Administration and post on freerepublic.com and the Fox News Forums about now Socialism in medicine is bad and the government can't do anything right.

Hey Schmuck!

Welcome to FreeRepublic. You can learn a lot here.

One of the things you might not know is that our electric alarm clocks worked before the Department of Energy existed. This Department of Energy says it had 16,000 employees and listed as assets 15,323 vehicles. (2003 data) The also employed 100,000 "contractors" and they all do so much to keep your alarm clock going. (Gee six times as many contractors as employees. What's that about?)

Unlike you, I would guess, I actually visited the National Bureau of Standards (Did they change the name to protect the innocent?) maybe 30 years ago. They were doing robotic research. It looked more to me like the Physics Building at my college. These guys are supposed to keep the golden ruler. That's it.

When you drive past all those buildings that didn't burn down, you could just as well have been on Nantucket Island which probably has the largest concentrated collection of buildings that are more than 200 years old. Many predate the founding of this country. They didn't burn down either.

And as for the internet, it was nothing before private businesses made it what it has become. When you use it the government has NOTHING to do with it (unless you are stealing time on a government computer).

As for socialized medicine I suggest you look here to see your future.

San Antonio! The cost goes up if your animal is intact...if it produes a litter, you have to pay a ‘litter fee’...There’s paperwork to be done and probably more fees if you decide to sell said litter...It’s getting ridiculous.

After work....at my government job where I am paid by poor smucks like you at a higher rate than a comparable job in the private sector and where I spend most of my time twiddling my thumbs and dreaming of how great my extravagant retirement benefits are going to be, again paid for by you serfs. Thanks suckers!
Happy April 15th!

If bonidee saw a sundial, would bonidee have the sense to be able to read it and not try to use it as a seat?

Wow - if it wasn’t for the government, this guy would be without food, water, air and shelter!

How did we ever manage before all these agencies?

By leaving morons like this back in Europe, that’s how.

Mr. bonidee, what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I woke up this morning to the sound of my privately manufactured alarm clock purchased with funds from my small business. The clock which is powered by electricity provided by the public power utility supported by technology developed by privated industry despite oppressive regulations of the US Department of Energy, EPA, and OSHA. I then proceeded to take a shower in clean, drinkable water produced using technology developed by private industry at a minimal cost despite the incompetents at the water department. The same water department that lies about droughts and is incapable of preventing 20% of the processed water from leaking through poorly maintained pipes. After that, I watched the news presented by private companies exercising their free speech in spite of oppressive regulation by the FCC on my privately produced TV to see what the local privately produced weather professional using privately owned weather instruments and usingc satellites built, paid for, launched, maintained by private industry. I watched this while eating my breakfast of US Department of Agriculture irradiated food and taking my vitamins which the FDA seeks to regulate all while breathing and exhaling CO2 a gas determined hazardous by the EPA.

Upon realizing that this hasn’t happened, I also noticed that my residence had also not been plundered of all its valuables thanks to the local police fighting crime in my neighborhood.

I then log onto the internet, which was developed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Administration but turned into a useful tool by millions of private industries, travel across private owned cables, servers, routers, and then post on freerepublic.com and the Fox News Forums about how Socialism kills freedom, people, economies, and countries.
