The positive impact — even if Lynch can just outrun expectations — is that it could lead to more RAT retirements in a hurry.

It goes even deeper than that. Most house members are able to shrug off an upset in a race for the Senate, or for Governor. These are statewide races, and tend to get a life of their own. But if a completely safe Democrat seat were to switch, or even be close, then there will be a lot of House members saying “that could be me.”

Legislatively, this could have a huge impact, in that many more house democrats will see themselves as vulnerable, and will be that much less likely to go along with cap-and-trade, amnesty, VAT, etc. But if this race isn’t close, then the current spin/conventional wisdom that the Republicans have peaked will be an easier sell, and these house democrats will a) breath a sigh of relief, and b) continue on with dismantling the country.
