Barney Frank has enemies, even 30,000 feet in the air.
Flying back to Boston from LA yesterday, the congressman was assailed by a pair of ophthalmologists upset about the health care reform bill. An argument ensued that prompted some passengers to wonder if the plane might be forced to land.
"No one was calming things down and people were standing up shouting," said Brooke Sexton, who was seated seven rows behind Barney.
Accustomed as he is to being conservatives's favorite bad guy, Frank mostly ignored the doctors's taunts, Sexton said, but the congressman's partner, Jim Ready, did not.
The problem started soon after the ophthalmologists - two sisters on their way to a conference in Boston - boarded the Virgin flight. When they discovered that Frank was sitting nearby, the women loudly dissed the landmark health care bill as an "Obamanation." (Frank was returning from LA, where he'd received an award from the Greenlining Institute, an economic development group for minorities, and appeared on Jay Leno's show.)
"They wanted to talk to me, but I apologized and said I like to read and watch on planes," Frank told us todday. "They began to talk louder and that's when Jimmy (Ready) said, 'If you're trying to be bitchy, you're doing a good job."
Needless to say, the women didn't appreciate the remark, and things got heated. (Attempts to locate or ID the women were unsuccessful.) Sexton, who's an HR director for the UK-based retailer All Saints Spitalfields, said flight attendants weren't working hard enough to diffuse the situation, so she got involved.
"The women had been drinking, and they were crying and shouting," Sexton said. "They were clearly the antagonizers, and Mr. Frank was kind of minding his own business."

Barney and his ilk are orchestrating the demise of the United States. I have no sympathy for him and I hope he is harangued wherever and whenever he is in contact with the public.

Barney Frank Present When Partner Arrested for Pot Plants Possession
Rep. Barney Frank admitted that he was sitting on the porch of his partner’s Maine home when police came to arrest his partner for marijuana possession.
Frank, responding to new reports that he was present during the Aug. 2007 arrest of James Ready, said in a statement he was unaware Ready had marijuana plants.
According to a police report obtained by MyFoxBoston, Maine police arrested and charged James Ready with marijuana possession, cultivation and use of drug paraphernalia. He pleaded guilty to civil possession and paid a fine. The remaining charges were dismissed last year.

No way. He deserves to be protested, annoyed, harassed and vilified everywhere he goes. He and others like him have brought the country to the brink of ruination. He's lucky those sisters didn't have tar and feathers.
And a fine, upstanding conservative pilot didn't kick 'em off the plane!
I'm generally on the side of civility, but not in this case. If Frank had minded his own business in Congress, limiting his intrusions to just those within the enumerated powers in the Constitution, that would be different. Instead, he stuck his nose and his sticky fingers into these women's business while they were doing nothing wrong, and it serves him right for them to stick their noses into his business anywhere they find the disgusting socialist.
Barney Frank should have understood that when he voted to impose Fascism on the American people he might well have to give up his public travels without a well-trained and well-armed praetorian guard.
It's his own fault for being stupid.

Drunk, or not, I’m on the ‘haranguers’ side... Its getting awfully close to torches and pitchforks time — and its because of Frank and his ilk that we have to thank for that. A few harsh words is small payment for trampling on the Nation’s Constitution.

If I am unsure about what is fair, I try to visualize the same situation with switched sides. I’m not on Barney’s side here. Oh, the ladies were a touch rude, no doubt. But Barney specializes in elitist snobby rudeness.
Man writes law wrecking ladies income and profession.
Ladies make loud snotty comments nearby.
Man’s “friend” calls them bitches.
Ladies get REALLY mad, and into a good argument.
When people do you dirty, it makes you twice as mad if they keep arguing. These ladies are in the field, they know he screwed them. He knows it too. They aren’t going to take being called names lying down.
