McCain's Hayworth (McCain mocks JD)
POLITICO ^ | 4/12/10 | Ben Smith

John McCain's campaign is having a great deal more fun this year than in 2008, relentlessly attacking a primary rival who could be a real threat.

Of course he’s having fun. He’d far rather attack a consrvative than a flaming Democrat.

(McCain mocks JD)

Hayworth is in good company. McCain has been mocking all of America for more than a decade.

It is about time JD took off the gloves. The ad isn’t funny, unless you like parsing and equivocation. Even if you do, it isn’t funny.

Hey, Juan McCain knows when to pick & choose his battles. JD’s presence in the Senate is more of a threat to his political goals than Obama in the White House ever was!

It's truly interesting. He practically endorsed Obama during the ‘08 campaign and now has no fear in attacking J.D.

I have no problem with campaign adds such as this (although this ones not very good). But, your point as to why McCain refused to attack Obama is a good one.

A generally dumb ad that has nothing to do with real issues. Shows what a bunch of a**holes McCain and his cronies are. But he was hit hard this week when someone had the temerity to actually Juan what he’d done to improve border security. Juan answered; “Not enough”, knowing he was caught in one his biggest lies, that he actually intended to address border security when he used that to deflect criticism of his pro-amnesty position during the Republican primaries in 2007 and 2008.

Good article at JD’s site:

http://www.jdforsenate.com/news/2010/04/11/border-line-delusional-john-mccain-his-own-words

It’s easy to see why Juan wants to use nonsense to divert voters from the real issues.

Political jokes are suppose to expose your opponent's flaws while highlighting your strengths. Looking at this ad one has to wonder if John McCain is for people marrying horses and not really caring if Obama was born in Kenya.

Glad I sent JD a contribution.

BTW-I wonder if we'll hear complaints from the liberals about using clips from the Lion King, Mars Attacks and Dracula. I suppose it's only when conservatives use clips from the liberal media that we hear the "copyright infridgment" yells. Speak volumes as to what side McCain is on.

McCain still leads comfortably in most polls.

We will see how it goes. I wish Hayworth luck.

McCain still leads comfortably in most polls.

What polls are there? Rasmussen had it as a dead head in November, then McCain ahead by about 22% early this year, then ahead only by 7% about three weeks ago? JD had made up a great deal of ground.

There was something released by Daily Kos that most didn't take very seriously. I don't know of any other polls on this race.

Given that McCain has spent the last ten years running for president, with more time in Iowa & N.H. than Arizona, I thought it would be interesting to see just how often 'the maverick' bothers to show up for Senate votes.

Well, guess what, as bad as Obama was, McCain was even worse. [snip]Sen. John McCain (AZ) -- the only current Republican presidential candidate who is a sitting U.S. senator -- has missed more votes than any other senator since Congress convened in January, with the exception of Sen. Tim Johnson (D-SD), who spent months recuperating from a brain hemorrhage. According to washingtonpost.com's U.S. Congress Votes Database, Obama has missed 74 out of 93 roll-call votes (79.6%) since the end of the August congressional recess. McCain has missed 63 out of 93 roll-call votes (67.8%) since the end of the August congressional recess. But for the entire year, McCain has missed 79 more votes than Obama; since January, McCain has missed 212 out of 403 (52.6%) roll-call votes in the 110th Congress, while Obama has missed 133 out of 403 (33.0%) roll-call votes.

AntiConformist911 — June 29, 2008 — Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) became the most absent member of the Senate. According to the Washington Post's votes database, McCain has "missed 367 votes (61.4%) during the current Congress." In fact, CQ reports today that McCain hasn't voted in the Senate since April 8.

On the other hand, J.D. Hayworth has missed only 1% of his votes in congress

Hayworth

John Hayworth missed 95 (1%) of 7,172 roll call votes between Jan 4, 1995 and Dec 9, 2006.

The absentee rate is in red. The two thin black lines provide a context for understanding the significance of the absentee rate. The lower dotted line shows the median value for all Members of Congress in that time period. The upper dotted line shows the 90th percentile. A Member who approaches the upper dotted line is in the worst 10 percent of Congress.

AuntB, you should be working for the Hayworth campaign. There is a gold mine of McCain faults, inconsistencies and flip-flops. I just hope JD’s campaign has a lot of it lined up to be put into ads at the most beneficial time. And I hope they have to money to blanket Arizona with ads.
