Please take a moment to help FREEP this poll. It is an online poll for the Honolulu Advertiser, and it is for the election to replace the seat vacated by former U.S. Rep. Neil Abercrombie. Hawaii has a legitimate chance to be Massachusetts The Sequel, with Charles Djou (R), a fiscal, common-sense conservative, challenging the union-backed Colleen Hanabusa (D) and Democrat Ed Case (who paints himself as a "moderate" and "independent" but is really another tax-and-spender). The narrative played out in local media is that Charles is a longshot, but Cook Political Report has revised their assessment twice so far, and now I believe it is toss-up. The poll is on the paper's main page at
Oddly the recent poll numbers I heard on the radio the other day had Case far out in the lead, with Djou trailing a little ways back, and Hanabusa in the rear. I never heard the radio talk show host (either Rick Hamada or Mike Buck, I forget which — on 890 KHVH AM radio) say the numbers. I was under the impression that Case is thought by mainland DCCC to have the best chance of winning.
BUMP. (Is it bad taste to bump your own post?)
I went to Djou’s website awhile back and E mailed him to say that he had a fine website but does not say on it, how he feels about abortion, cap and trade, Obamacare, etc. etc. I asked that he or his staff get back to me to fill me in on these subjects but I have not heard a word back. Yes, I know he is a Republican BUT who is he really. (possible RINO? who knows if they don’t ask)
Thanks, we sometime forget our most beautiful state to the west but I’ll be watching thanks to your post.
FREEP THIS POLL ***PING!*** FRmail me if you want to be added or removed from the Fearless Poll-Freeping Freepers Ping list. And be sure to ping me to any polls that need Freepin', if I miss them. (looks like a medium volume list) (gordongekko909, founder of the pinglist, stays on the list until his ghost signs up for the list)
Thanks for the effort! We are down 41-26.9 to the leader, Hanabusa. Hopefully we can narrow that gap some!
His position on abortion is diappointing. But overall, he’s a good, solid fiscally conservative candidate. In Hawaii, that’s something we don’t see a whole lot of — but the times are changing. http://www.kitv.com/news/22861964/detail.html
We freep, therefore we are!
LOL
That graphic embedded into the thread was so cool! How did you do that??! Thanks very much for the update — I just checked, and it’s down to a 38.8-28.8 gap, in Hanabusa’s favor.
Looking a bit better, but Hawaii is liberalland.
Maybe Djou can peel off some of the voters who support Case (thinking that Case is an independent-minded pol) if they think Case is not strong enough to win. I could see a lot of Case supporters who think he might be more fiscally responsible turn to Djou in that event.
PLEASE KEEP FREEPING THIS POLL IF YOU”RE ABLE TO! Mahalos!
Definitely not a RINO on fiscal issues. Good guy on the city council, one of the few. He’s definitely better than anyone else on the ticket. We know both Case and Hanabusa would have voted for Obamacare definitely. Djou would not. Right now the main issue is the budget and taxes, and Djou is the man for that! Coming up in November Mazie has a worthy opponent as well, though that hasn’t gotten publicity yet with the Djou/Hanabusa/Case race going strong. Considering the voting percentages here, we have a good chance of pulling this off. Djou voters are definitely more hyped.
Here’s hoping he can turn out supporters big time on May 22!! Again, if people haven’t yet clicked, please go to www.honoluluadvertiser.com and click on Djou for the online poll! As far as Hirono — I’m aware of TWO good candidates who are running against her: Ramsay Wharton and John Willoughby!
It’s all mail-in, so we’ll see what happens. Our son has an apartment in his district (we’re in Mazie’s....sigh) and he’s made sure his voter registration is up to date.
But I don’t know anything about HI politics! I trusted you to tell me who to vote for and so far you have failed... (grin)
I hit the “back” arrow on my browser and voted for Chuckie, TWICE!!! Got 86’ed on the 3rd try... He’s about 7 points behind Colleen in 2nd place!!!
