Top Secret Sen. Ted Kennedy Files To Be Released Family Given Permission To Review Files First BOSTON (CBS) ―
The FBI kept a top secret file on the late Senator Ted Kennedy. There are thousands of pages in it.
There could be a lot of material in there that would make tabloid editors salivate. The files are being released after media requests under the Freedom of Information Act, reports CBS station WBZ-TV.
The FBI is ready to make 3,000 of those pages public, but before they do, the Kennedy family will see them first.
The Globe reports that while the Kennedy's don't have the legal power to block the release of some of the material, they can request information be withheld if it violates their privacy interests.
But they can't object simply because it could be embarrassing.

What are they going to say?
That he was a drunk?
That he took advantage of young women on his staff? (sorry)
That he left a young woman to drown in his car while he figured out how to protect his career?
That he was nearly single-handedly responsible for the immigration policy we have today?
That he was having talks with the USSR leading up the 1980 presidential campaign?
That he had more in common with tyrants such as Castro, Chavez, Ortega, Arafat and Khomeni than he has in common with any average individual American?
I could go on, but you get the idea. I can’t imagine they are going to tell me anything I didn’t already know. I won’t even be surprised to hear he had a thing for underage Mexican boys, which might explain his immigration policies. I would be about the only thing he didn’t openly flaunt. Even things he did openly flaunt, they rarely if ever talked about on the evening news. Heck, we had to have a public trial to get the news he would walk around in his striped boxers (pants on the ground) looking to get a piece of the action with a woman who was involved in litigation.
I can't think of anything that comes closer to treason.
I know where this is going:
“As they were leaving the party, Ted Kennedy opened the car door of the Oldsmobile for Ms. Kopechne. He then” NOTE: THE NEXT 50 PAGES OF THIS DOCUMENT HAVE BEEN BLOCKED BECAUSE OF PRIVACY CONCERNS OF THE KENNEDY FAMILY.
Joe Conason’s column, the next day: “We read the reports, and see the scandals add up to nothing. In fact, the information reveals that Sentator was actually very gracious to Ms. Kopechne by opening the car door. But don’t expect the Kennedy haters to admit that!”
Joan Walsh’s column: “We see a different side of Ted Kennedy. Unlike the Republicans who want to eliminate a woman’s right to choose, Kennedy cared about woman as shown by his willingness to open a car door for Ms. Kopechne. The contrast in behavior is not lost on women, and shows why the Republican party is in deep trouble.”
Keith Olbermann rant: “That SEXIST Scott Brown would never open a car door for a woman. Mr. Brown, you are UNFIT to be serving in Kennedy’s seat!”
Democratic Underground thread: “Kennedy’s car door opening vs. Bush slamming shut the door of opportunity on ALL women!”
Something will gack this up before we ever get to see it. I have faith this stuff will remain secret.
I have difficulty rolling my eyes far enough up into my head. Who was the liberal airhead who opined that Mary Jo Kopechne would have thought her life was a good trade for what Ted Kennedy supposedly did for women.
Funny how they always say stuff like that when you can never ask the person what they really think, like their insistence that Jack Kennedy had second thoughts about the Joe McCarthy agenda and would privately express those concerns to people...but we never heard it from him.
The “Kennedy’s” don’t have that much power?
Apostrophe cleanup on aisle eight!
BTW: This is exciting news. At long last, we’ll find out whether Kennedy really was or was not a dirtbag.

I don't know what's more disgusting: Kennedy asking people if they've heard any new Chappaquidick jokes, or Ed Klein thinking it's something to be admired in Kennedy.
I already know all that I would ever care to know about that disgusting traitor.
None of it will be new to the editors in the newsrooms.
By allowing the Kennedy family the ability to purge the files, this gives cover for the media to once more spike negative Kennedy stories.
Hey maybe they can slip some of the don’t want anyone to see papers in to their pants also!
Camelot was a post-presidency myth. A concocted collusion between Jackie and a journalist in the wake of the JFK assassination.
Kennedy had a back channel relationship with the Soviets when Reagan was president and likely had links with other U.S. enemies from North Vietnam to Iran.
I used to like telling and hearing Chappaquiddick jokes, but after hearing that clip —
3000 pages is nothing..
What is it? His memoirs of his vacation one summer at Martha’s Vineyard?
If they are going to release his ‘secret’ papers. The release them all. Got to be HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of pages by now.
Liberals are psychos.
Maybe the Kennedys can commission Sandy Burglar to get to these papers first and see that they come up missing.
lol. exactly!
“Hes gone.”
Better yet: his seat did not get “inherited” by a fellow family member. The Kennedy dynasty is dead and the U.S. survived.
I agree, even though they tried to downplay Reagan's role. Hi, Neen!
yes, the US survived. His seat has gone to Scott Brown and we are thankful. I’m surprised we dont hear more about this man than we have but..no mattter. MA has been set free.
