RE: But what if more of them start to leave?

The question is WHERE TO ?

Most countries are doing WORSE than the USA economy-wise.

Are they going to China ? where there is practically little freedom of speech ?

Are they going to India ? the Philippines ? They better think twice because they aren’t any better than the USA.

Our system is getting worse, no doubt about it. But it’s still a whole lot better than MOST other countries out there. The grass isn’t really any greener on the other side.

The question is WHERE TO ?

To the same places other rich ex-US citizens have gone.

The question is WHERE TO ?

People with SERIOUS money are more free in a country with fewer laws and a bribe-able justice system. They live in gated communities with plenty of servants and have every amenity they would in the US. I can't remember where I read it, but I believe the Bush family owns a nice chunk of Patagonia (Argentina).

Hong Kong and Singapore are both economically freer than the U.S.

True. Not yet. It will be soon if we do not evict Obama and the Marxists from government. Ameridcan free enterprise should be liberated from all the layers of government.

If the USA rich leave here and settle "over there", the receiving country's economy will skyrocket.

I have heard that Switzerland is willing to negotiate a mutally agreeable tax rate for rich immigrants. They would rather get 5% of their income as Swiss citizens than nothing as just visitors. Even that 5% is vastly more than Switzerland would spend on services for them so it is just about pure profit for the government.

The question is WHERE TO ?

Panama is stable and doing so well they are expanding the canal.

Belize is growing. The native language is English and the currency is the US dollar.

Costa Rica has good medical care and is stable.

There's more than one way to 'leave'.

You can starve the monkeys right here. Galt's Gulch is a state of mind and a plan of action.

Hey, if you are “rich” you can sell out, invest, and live quite well in places like Panama, the Caymans, the Philippines. Not like the average natives there! There is lots of green grass, and you don’t have to mow it yourself either.

The question is WHERE TO ?

I have researched this at some length. Argentina looks pretty good. Chile isn't terribly awful.

Australia and New Zealand have both succumbed to leftist nanny-state ideals.

Poland looks pretty good as well. Even Russia under Putin appears to be better than where America is headed. Imagine that!

Where to? Well the article is about the 1% of Americans who pay 40% of the taxes. Places like The Cayman Islands, Bermuda, the Bahamas, Costa Rica, Belieze, Hong Kong and Singapore, and Monaco all come to mind as popular tax havens for the rich.

Probably a significant number are here on green cards, think of all the wealthy Indian’s from high-tech industry. Many of them can go home to India and enjoy lower taxes and lower cost of living. Their market is growing fast, too. So plenty of opportunity to invest and make good profits there.

The endless tax increases that is the only Democratic plan for fixing our budget woes will force people to find alternatives. Like many Freepers I’ve already moved twice, in part to place myself into more tax-friendly states. How many wealthy people (and even the merely productive high wage earning middle class like myself) have bailed on California? One million? More?

They’ll call Gordon Liddy and invest only in gold then sit on it. No capital investment equals fewer jobs equals depression equals anarchy. Probably a long road but eventually it gets there.
