'Apparently I caused a problem'

President Obama Sunday seemed to shrug off the brouhaha after he broke with White House tradition and ditched his press pool earlier this weekend to watch one of his daughter’s soccer games.

Prior to Obama’s bilateral meeting with Pakistan Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, Obama told his colleague, “apparently I caused quite a problem," , adding something about his secretary not telling the Secret Service, according to, ironically enough, the pool report.

Blame the secretary...

Stay classy, Obama!

Maybe — just maybe — the reason that he is sheltering them from the press is that they may instinctively tell the truth instead of some lie concocted by Obama.

Now that is a idea that has merit.

But remember what Heinlein said: Your enemy is never a monster in his own eyes. And I maintain that the love of a father for his children has nothing to do with his inability to lead.

But I guess I am out-voted so I shall say no more.

He dodged the press pool, but he went on an unannounced trip without the Secret Service being able to plan for it. They likely had no idea where they were going, and yet still are expected to protect him when failure is not an option.

He lacks class and manners, and it shows his contempt for those who would have to take a bullet for him.

No good mom or dad would take their kids to a racist anti-American church.

the PM of Pakistan. Thing is, when one occupies the White House, you have no peers and definitely ZERO Colleagues.

Writer needs to go back to school.

I remember seeing pictures of Hitler with his dog, Blondie, and how the dog would cower when Hitler would pet him or touch him....you could see the fear in the dog's eyes. I wonder how the White House bowser BO (named the dog after himself, you know) reacts to the other BO when they are together.

It's not as if it was - ah, Bush. (who would've then been summarily impeached)

OK, I liked a lot of what Bush did, but you have to admit that was pretty funny for them to take a day to mention to the press that the vice president shot someone.

"Who is the “colleague” Obama is talking to?"

The colleague referred to in the article is Pakistan Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani. Obama was making small talk with him before their meeting. If you go to the original article you will see that statement under the picture of the two men.

From the article-

"Prior to Obama’s bilateral meeting with Pakistan Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, Obama told his colleague, “apparently I caused quite a problem......"

As I said, I wasn’t commenting on the story but rather explaining that soccer is quite common this time of year for some areas of the country. Apparently, some find that hard to believe. As for Obama and his stunt....nothing surprises me.

there is soccer being played all over NoVA and DC in the spring. i have no knowledge of sidwell friends, but there are community teams and travel teams playing soccer. thankfully my kids did not play soccer, since i find it beyond boring, myself.

I’m sure fellow parents there have been briefed on the absolute rule “thou shalt NOT photograph the President, nor otherwise document his actions.” Recall not long ago the SS admonition that cell phones with cameras are subject to outright seizure without recourse. In the context of school activities, everyone is clear - explicit or implicit - that powerful parents are just parents, to be treated no differently than any other, in that context.

What does stink is the indication that there were no games scheduled for that day. Heck, that the sport isn’t even in season yet.
