This map is not up to date but gives a pretty good 9or bad) picture of the state of the United States and the current recession and unemployment. Click Source URL and CLICK the map to play and to view the rates along the right side of your computer screen.

Obama sure brought the country together didn’t he? So much for red and blue states, they are all black and blue now.

Democrats took control of Congress January 2007 and Obama took control of the executive branch January 2009. That pretty much sums it up.

What the heck is going on in Mississippi?
To: dvan
Very interesting representation.
By January, 2010, the lowest rates of unemployed were essentially confined to the lowest population counties in the country -- the High Plains belt from West Texas to North Dakota and Montana.
And these counties are both low population and low unemployment because just about every household remaining there is on the land and largely self-supporting.
An object lesson...

I've seen charts that depict the downward spiral beginning when the 'rat socialists took control of Congress on Jan,2007. On this map, note how quickly the nation becomes darker from Jan, 2009.
I fear darker times are ahead.

The question still remains.......How much more can our country take before it totally falls apart and a dictatorship takes effect? Companies can only layoff so many employees before it goes out of business. Where’s that tipping point for the country?

Well that’s just dandy.
Seriously, it pretty well highlights the country. It also highlights that I am going to move to central US.

Overlay a map that shows U.S. population demographics in the U.S. to the one linked in the article and I think you will see some correlation.

That tracks the Democrat Party carnage since they took control of Congress. That’s not a coincidence. Good stuff, Geron. Thanks for the ping.

What is interesting is that the last county in a state to go black is often the county containing the state’s capitol. In other words, government is sheltered from the worst aspects of an economic downturn, with the private sector serving as ablative protection for the government sector.
