NEW ORLEANS -- Mitt Romney won the straw poll at the Southern Republican Leadership conference here Saturday in a victory that will be taken as a sign of the former Massachusetts governor's strength as a 2012 presidential candidate.
That's because the 2008 GOP presidential hopeful elected to skip the conference to continue his book tour.
Romney triumphed by a single vote over Ron Paul, who took second place 439 votes to 438. Both men won 24 percent of the vote. Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich essentially tied for third with 18 percent of the vote each.

How many people showed up to hear Romney’s speach at this event? That’s right; he was afraid to show up at an event and try to compete with Sarah Palin.

Romney has also called for the federal Constitution to be amended to limit marriage in the United States to unions of one man and one woman

Gee, he wrote a book... bought enough copies to put his book #1 on the NYT best seller list for ONE WEEK, and now he bought a straw poll. Yet, when last asked by Chris Wallace, he said he hadn’t decided whether he wanted to run for the nomination again......
Name her TV news show and proof of her ratings please.
There is another year and a half before things start getting real serious. She is a very smart woman and she know what she believes in; which right in line with most Americans.

For my own part, I think this argument about putting the onus on employers to police immigrants is BS.
It completely skirts the tough issues of:
1) the federal government deliberately not enforcing immigration law,
2) the obligation to return illegals to the border when they are discovered. (People don't like the unpleasant pictures, so it's easier to punish employers and let the immigration continue.)
