Russia says Prime Minister Vladimir Putin will personally head the investigation into an aeroplane crash that killed Poland's president.
A total of 96 people were on board the plane that crashed near the western Russian city of Smolensk, all of whom are believed to be dead.
Polish president Lech Kaczynski was on board the Russian-built Tupolev 154 jet when it went down in heavy fog near a military airport.
Russian authorities have already said they suspect pilot error in the crash, near Smolensk, in Western Russia.
There are reports the jet made several attempted landings before the crash.
Also on board were leading members of Poland's political elite, including the army chief of staff and the governor of the central bank.
A scan of a list of 88 passengers aboard the plane published on a Polish government website showed the names of Poland's chief of staff, General Franciszek Gagor, and Major General Bronislaw, head of operational forces.
General Tadeusz Buk, head of land forces, air force commander Andrzej Blasik and special forces chief Wojciech Potasinki, as well as navy vice-admiral Andrzej Karweta, were also on the list.
They were part of an official delegation travelling to commemorate the massacre of thousands of Polish soldiers by soviet troops during the second world war.
Most chilling villain in movie history, IMO. But he’s no Obama.
PUTIN JUST SAID HE WOULD FORM A ‘GOVERNMENTAL COMMISSION’! WTH is that? Does this mean he is going to ‘install’ a government in Poland?

‘Medvedev calls for Russian-Polish unity after Kaczynski’s death’
“The Russian and Polish peoples should unite in the aftermath of the death of Polish President Lech Kaczynski in a plane crash in western Russia earlier on Saturday, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said.
A Kremlin statement said Medvedev made the comment in a phone conversation with Poland’s acting president, Bronislaw Komorowski.
“It was noted during the conversation that the loss is irreparable, but precisely in these difficult days a consolidation of peoples is very important to jointly to overcome the consequences of this terrible tragedy,” a Kremlin statement quoted Medvedev as saying.”
hmmmmmm...sounds like Russia has plans alright.
We must watch very carefully as to new members of the Polish government and military staff.
its like a beeber but different Electro magnetic pulse a baby baby nuke
Why do they need Putin to investigate an accident caused by pilot error?
You don’t have to work for the NSA to know what happened to the Polish President.
Thanks for getting the pic posted in the thread. I couldn’t figure out how to do it.

Presidents plane recently underwent overhaul
10.04.2010 13:00
The ageing Tupolev Tu-154, which crashed Saturday morning in western Russia killing President Lech Kaczynski and many others had recently undergone thorough mechanical overhaul, reports Polish Radio.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Piotr Paszkowski says that the cause of the accident is not yet clear.
Eye witnesses say that heavy fog surrounded the airport near Smolensk and the plain attempted to land four times before clipping to the tops of trees and immediately falling to the ground, where it burst into flames.
The airport was closed at the time of the attempted landing with visibility down to less than 500 meters, according to Russian TV reports. The pilot was offered alternative landings at either Moscow or Minsk airports but decided to try and land at Smolensk.
The aircraft was just one kilometre short of the runway when it crashed. (pg)
