Vaughn Wards statement on the recent video of Pfc. Bowe Bergdahl
Posted Fri, 04/09/2010 - 5:35pm
My thoughts and prayers go out to Pfc. Bowe Bergdahl and his family. As a Marine Corps Officer, we are taught to leave no man behind and this circumstance is no different. I support our military commanders on the ground in Afghanistan and know that we will continue to do everything we can to bring Pfc. Bergdahl home to Idaho. However, Walt Minnick recently made statements on this issue that cant go unchallenged, suggesting the United States consider negotiating a prisoner trade with the Taliban. This is incredibly naïve. Negotiating with terrorists bestows a status on them they do not deserve and Walt Minnick is flat wrong to suggest it.

The U.S. government should work out a prisoner trade with the terrorist group holding Pfc. Bowe Bergdahl of Hailey hostage, Rep. Walt Minnick, D-Idaho, said Thursday.
In an appearance on Nate Shelman’s afternoon show on 670 KBOI, Minnick said, “What the family and what I am hoping for is that we can work out some kind of a prisoner trade that down the road might release him but do it in a way that we get him back, but we aren’t trading a thousand for one.”
The Taliban released a video Wednesday in which Bergdahl pleaded for his freedom, saying that he wanted to return to his family in Hailey and that the war in Afghanistan is not worth the number of lives that have been lost or wasted in prison. At the end of the video, a speaker demanded the release of a limited number of prisoners in exchange for Bergdahl.

Do you think this PFC is a legitimate POW?
It doesn’t matter what I think.
The situation is:
Bergdahl is an American, a hostage and he’s not free to leave.
What is your source for claiming he is a hostage and not free to leave? I would say that is you “thinking”, so it does matter. I think this puke is a deserter who took his suitcase with him, so it is interesting that you don’t have an opinion.
Personally, no, I think he is a willing sympathizer as evidenced by his previous videos..........
If you have a source that shows he is free to leave 999replies, go ahead and post it here.
I haven’t seen anything on the jihad sites where he is free to go; nor any press releases; but if you know go ahead and post it.
Your post will be breaking news.
Thanks.
PS. Thank you for your service for our country 999replies.
I appreciate it and you.
Could that be the Stockholm syndrome you're seeing?
