EAST HAMPTON - A 27-year-old woman has been charged with two counts of risk of injury to a minor and reckless endangerment after two toddlers were found wandering around town in just their diapers, police said.
Police found two boys, ages 2 and 3, close to Flatbrook Road in a wooded area near a stream. Police said the boys were outside for about an hour.
When their mohter, Julie Root, showed up to the scene, she appeared to be under the influence of prescription pain medications, police said.

Seriously. He should be immediately re-educated.
Kind of a tall woman. 5’9”. Must be wearing fashionable stilettos.
>>>T-shirts don’t get you high.
The police charged her with being on prescription drugs. I’m sure if there was weed on her or in the house, she would have been charged with that as well.<<<
Actually, she was not charged for the prescription drugs but for “two counts of risk of injury to a minor and reckless endangerment “.
Since the mother came to the scene, and the incident did not happen at her house, I’m not sure the police would have probable cause to search the house (though if I were a judge the shirt would be enough for me). Dad probably had plenty of time to flush whatever drugs might be in the house before the child protective services folks come to investigate in a few days.
How could they tell the drugs were prescription?
It really doesn't matter what she was on, she was incapacitated and charged properly for not taking care of her children.
“There is no indication that pot was involved in this incident.”
Except for the fact that the “parent” was wearing an “I heart WEED” t shirt.
I didn’t say she was high on pot at the time. But the t-shirt would seem to strongly suggest that she often is. Then again, maybe she just tried it once in college, but didn’t inhale.
Or maybe she just loves that sleepy little California town that she had to buy and wear the t-shirt /s
LMAO!
She's almost definitely an idiot, but the police seem to believe it was prescription drugs that caused this particular sleepy time.
I called it to your attention because I never have made a mistake in my ENTIRE life.
:-)
Or, like BC, didn't exhale.
Umm, did I get that right?

I’m NOT sticking up for this pig, but..
Read again: I’m NOT sticking up for this pig, but...
I, too, at this very moment, am under the influence of prescription pain medication. I welcome not being in pain at this time!
I also have a ‘Coors’ T-Shirt but don’t drink alcohol. And I have an ‘Arizona Iced Tea’ jacket and don’t drink tea. Am I guilty?
The police are too quick to convict, as it appears many FReepers are guilty of same. She’s a slug, no doubt. The kids should be taken away from her and the father should be investigated as to his drug use, if any exists.
The “Weed” T-Shirts have been around since I lived a few miles south of there in Mt. Shasta 30 years ago.
Again, I’m NOT sticking up for this pig. Repeat as often as neccessary.
Let the judge/jury determine her guilt.
Weed is the name of a town in California, it’s one of those “I heart -insert city name-” shirts, albeit with a double entendre.
You have a sick sense of humor.
I like that!
Jesus, Mary and Joseph. I am so damned sick and tired of this kind of crap. So sick of it. Those kids had their Guardian Angels watching over them for sure. In a wooded area near a creek???? Dear God...I hope the authorities can find them a home in which they can be loved and cared for.
I came home from work one evening and found my two toddlers in the yard in their diapers. Their father was asleep inside. We are divorced.
Guilty with an exclamation!
LOL - that photo was a gutbuster!
People zonked out on pain meds are pretty easy to recognize.
All the abusable narcotics are scheduled drugs.
From there, it is not a big stretch to say she appeared to be under the influence of prescription pain meds.
