WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama says Virginia's governor made "an unacceptable omission" when he proclaimed it Confederate History Month without mentioning slavery.
"I don't think you can understand the Confederacy and the Civil War unless you understand slavery," said Obama, the nation's first black president.

Shouldn’t AP be correct and say Obama is our first half-black president?

What does Obama know of slavery? Except what he read in books that inspired Howard Zinn?

I’m not much on re-fighting the Civil War reasons etc, but wasn’t Virginia not part of the Southern “slave states” that initially succeeded but instead, succeeded only after the war started?

So, Obozo, the proclamation itself MUST have something in it about slavery? Yes, it’s all about you (and Michelle). Pompous, arrogant, narcissistic, self-agrandizing B@st@rd.

Obama: rushing in where angels fear to tread. The issue’s over and done with - in about 1865. Still, a coward like Obama will wait til the dust settles and THEN give us his enlightened opinion.
At least Jimmy Carter had the decency to cower under his desk away from the cameras. Obama is taking his act worldwide.

"I don't think you can understand the Confederacy and the Civil War unless you understand slavery," said Obama, the nation's first black president. Obama may be "black" but he isn't decended from slaves brought to America, if that was AssPress' implication in reminding readers of his skin color. His dad only left Kenya to go to school abroad in search of broads.

Obama's father's tribe are reputed to have "earned their living" capturing more primitive people and selling them as slaves to the Arabs.
Does he want that sort of thing covered? I'm sure Governor McDonnell would be overjoyed to have Obama present for a sound and light show about that part of it all.

And what qualifies him to speak about American slavery? His ancestors were part of the slave trade industry, they just happened to be the ones selling the slaves to the Western slave traders.

I think it was the Kenyans who were some of the biggest slave traders in Africa.
Besides, paraphrasing Jesse Jackson back during the campaign, "obama ain't got no slave blood, I'd like to cut his nuts off.".
Yesterday obama was an expert on nukes, today he's an avid civil war historian...I think he watched "Roots" too many times as a kenyan youngster.

Half muslim, half black...
maybe his muslim side should expound on the involved history of muslims in the slave trade? And detail how traders bought the slaves from muslims and black “leaders”(who in turn got very wealthy) in Africa. The muslim experience goes back over 1400 years!

His daughters have slave ancestors, as does his wife. His mother's family has slave ancestors too ~ people brought to America from various places in Europe to work as unpaid labor for the rest of their lives.
